You can train all you want, pump as much blood into your muscles as you want to force growth. At the end of the day it really comes down to what you put in your body that will really support your muscles to grow. Ever since I really got into the nutrition aspect of fitness the results became a difference maker. Obviously if you train and eat you will still put on size. However realistically the goal is to put on as much muscle with minimal fat gain and with a strict diet that idea will begin to show. Find your caloric sweet spot for your deficit, maintenance, and bulk. From there create a diet plan that will hit your macro goals. I will promise you you will take your physique to the next level!
