It's one of our very first products ever launched. It has been a top-seller since its very first day. And yet we almost never talk about it (we are Abnormal after all). The Chemistry Brand's RETIN-OIL is a super-light-weight dry body oil that combines a 1% concentration of an advanced retinoid complex with ethylated ascorbic acid (a superb direct form of Vitamin C), Vitamin E, deep-sea red algae and Amazonian oils ๐ŸŒด (aรงaรญ and pataรนa) to fight the looks of scars, stretch marks and other surface irregularities โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’ (It's really a wonder why some people still spend ๐Ÿ’ฐon products that combine mineral oil ๐Ÿ˜ท with a very bad form of Vitamin A, or Retinyl Palmitate, and claim they have created some biological oil against every skin problem.)

Fatter, cuddlier sizes of Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (100ml: CA/US$7.70/ยฃ6.80) and Salicylic Acid 2% Solution (30ml: CA/US$5.30/ยฃ4.20) are now here. The whole myth of less is more just doesn't seem to do it any more. We all know more is more ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ˜œ... (there is one actual bad news: they're not in Australia yet ๐Ÿ™ˆ)

CAIS2 is coming. In November. It feels like watching blue paint dry ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ All we can say is that it is so so much more than 2.

Our super-intimate (couldn't afford big) store in London's historic @coventgardenldn opened its cozy doors last week and it's already our best-performing store! We have done something here that makes a lot of design sense ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ: Our smallest of stores contains within it our first store-in-store dedicated entirely to The Ordinary (and there's a fridge there which is indicative of what's to come ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ’)

Say hello to Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone, our new offering to join the very big family of Vitamin C solutions from The Ordinary. This stable formula uses very lightweight silicones to offer a smooth skin feel and to avoid the short-lived gritty texture of stable Vitamin C suspension systems that some find undesirable. This formula is very strong and almost always causes a stinging sensation during initial periods of use, but can be diluted on each application with serums or creams to reduce this stinging while skin builds tolerance. โ€Ž(30ml US/CA$6.80, ยฃ5.80). Oh.. and it goes without saying that the formula contains no water as water always causes Vitamin C to oxidize regardless of how a formulation is packaged or stored, resulting in an ongoing change in colour toward orange. Water, without exception, causes Vitamin C to degrade and changes its potential from an anti-oxidant to a pro-oxidant. Some brands add orange-coloured ingredients to their formulations to mask the appearance of Vitamin C oxidation. If you see any signs of orange (or, in short, if you see pure Ascorbic Acid and water together in a formula), run as fast and as far away as you can. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’ UPDATE (Aug 3, 2017): Since this posting, a few posts have directly and indirectly criticized us by suggesting that Vitamin C is good, or even better, when it oxidizes, which is completely untrue. Our lab team has now published a comprehensive discussion on this topic which can be found by visiting dhaa.deciem.com โš—๏ธ๐Ÿ’ Brands should just make their formulations better instead of finding criticism that doesn't apply.

Non-European customers, please please be gentle with us... ๐Ÿ™ˆ
There's good news and bad news. Good: NIOD's Survival has arrived. Bad: The Survival formulations offering UV protection are available only in Europe for the next 3-6 months as we complete regulatory work market by market (it's all in progress). Survival is a range of four networked protection systems with technologies that help support healthy skin defences against environmental and lifestyle-related assaults. Despite their lightweight texture, these formulations offer a broad selection of advanced technologies to protect from UVA1, UVA2 and UVB while fighting the effects of oxygen radicals including the superoxide radical, nitrogen radicals, carbonyl radicals, glycation and advanced glycation end-products (AGE), pollution, smog, stress, infrared and blue light. The technologies in Survival include Lutein, Fractionated Melanin, Pycnogenolยฎ, Tomato carotenoids, prebiotics, non-nano mineral UV filters (no chemical filters) and several other advanced protection systems. It's all on niod.com.

After a few centuries of waiting, our 100% cold-pressed, 100% virgin, 100% unrefined African Marula Oil is back in stock ๐Ÿ™ˆ (before we say more, Hylamide HA Blur is also back in stock and we are honouring our interrupted sale until Tuesday. And our Covent Garden store in London is finally open). Back to Marula... Our Marula Oil comes from south west of Africa ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ†, a region encompassing Namibia and bordering South Africa, where simply the very best Marula Oil comes from (we were out of stock for so long due to unfavourable rain conditions in the region and we simply wanted the very best oil.) Marula Oil is a lightweight, aroma-neutral oil composed of oleic and linoleic acids but also of procyanidin, catechins and flavonoids. This oil acts as an antioxidant while hydrating and encouraging radiance.
The Ordinary's collection of plant oils also includes 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil and 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil.

Rose Hip Seed Oil is rich in linoleic (omega 6) and linolenic (omega 3) acids as well as pro-vitamin A, which enables it to target signs of photo-ageing and several other skin conditions. This oil's fatty acids impart a slight aroma which is an indication of purity and not rancidity as some may believe.
Argan Oil contains a host of fatty acids, vitamins, phenols and carotenes to support healthy skin. The oil is superb for reducing skin flaking and adding sheen and strength to hair fibre. Its unrefined format preserves the sensitive components which impart an earthly aroma that some don't find pleasant.
So how do you choose an oil best for you? If you have no major skin concerns and simply want a supporting oil in your regimen, Marula Oil is best. If you want an oil that targets signs of ageing, Rose Hip Seed Oil is best. If your skin or hair is super-dry, Argan Oil would be best. You can also mix a few drops of any or all of these oils into your favourite cream or oil-based treatment at the time of application.
We haven't mentioned Squalane here but if you simply want a very lightweight, odour-free oil alternative, our 100% Plant-Derived Squalane which can be mixed with oils if desired, is a superb hydrator โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’

We are all over the place, both literally and figuratively. The "figuratively" bit is super-easy: we have got no clue what we are doing as a business but it's working. Now the "literally" bit: last July, we opened our very first store in Toronto. Our 12th store is due to open in London's Covent Garden Market late next week. And here is a summary of where we are and where we are going on the map. It would be really mean if we are close to you and you don't come in for a hug.
Now Open: Toronto (Queen W, Yorkville, Cabbagetown, Kensington Market, Square One, Distillery District), Sydney (The Rocks), Melbourne (Chapel St), Seoul (Gangnam), London (Old Spitalfields Market), Mexico City (Antara Polanco)

Coming REALLY Soon (dirty work has begun): London (Covent Garden Market, Boxpark and another Boxpark), New York City (Fifth Avenue @ Library), Miami (Design District), Toronto (Exchange Tower), Vancouver (Metropolis at Metrotown)

Coming Soon But Less REALLY Soon (2017ish): New York City (Multiple Locations), Vancouver (Multiple Locations), San Francisco, Manchester

2018 (looking for space): Los Angeles, Chicago, Calgary, Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong (and obviously more). Oh and... HA Blur and Marula Oil are coming back in stock mid next week. ๐Ÿ’๐ŸŒ๐Ÿผ
