Five years ago, when Emely was in 7th grade she dealt with issues of depression and self-mutilation due to low self-esteem. After the guidance counselor, Mr. McLeod brought it to my attention, we spoken, then called mom and got her the help she needed. Through therapy, a loving school community, and parents who worked to build Emely’s confidence, she has blossomed like the rose tattooed covering the marks on her arm, into a remarkable young woman. Now a senior in HS, Emely joined me today for a InstaStory and FaceBook Live to share her experience and wisdom. We laughed, loved, and lived in this moment—just like old times [Swipe 🏾] the FB Live link in bio
The most important advice we shared:
1. Listen to young people and build relationships with them
2. Mental health is extremely important and not something you should be ashamed to seek.
3. Find your passion and the beauty in life.
4. Create safe spaces that inspire, empower, and offer unconditional love
