I wanted to propose a different thing to try today so we wrap up this #hipopener week, happy and cheery. This pose is not easy but, you can work on so many stages, that makes it a great modification. A first alternative would be to go from a Warrior II or Side Angle position, into the beginning of this one, sliding one arm under its leg and approaching the forehead towards that heel. Make sure the hips stay high as you do that, if necessary, walk the back foot in, so there’s more room to go under and you can also breathe easier. If you can touch, on exhale, start to pass the head under so the heel will end up in the back of the head/neck. If you're having a hard time at that moment aka, the foot starts to lift, the breath is more erratic, the mind races and starts panicking, the hip flexors, or any muscles around them, start to cramp, those are all signs you’ve reached your max and should stay there, if possible, or back off a bit, until things ‘calm down’. No point in going any further, you’ve made a great effort already. For those that can do ‘leg behind the head’ but freak out in the #inversion (I did too in the beginning), practice it facing a wall, do Eka Pada Sirsa, plant the hands, lift the other leg, swing it carefully back, through the space between the arms, drop the crown of the head into this version of Tripod #Headstand, climb the knee on its arm and, little by little, extend it diagonally. Tough and exhilarating, I know! Modify as needed and make this last #hipopener #practice count!! For other alternatives, check out @yogawithaislinn, @rachely.wang and @gmcyoga. I’m reminded daily of the importance of sadhana, or regular home practice. And yet, even I am subject to experiencing “seasons of yoga” when practice comes much more or much less easily. For a while, I have practiced mindfulness and teaching/practicing Asana (yoga postures) but have lacked an intimate, regular home practice. Re-discovering a 5-10 min meditation routine feels like re-discovering yoga, a few grey hairs and much greater wisdom later, a new journey unfolds. Always new chapters, new beginnings are revealing themselves. New opportunities in every failure or challenge. Cultivating intuition shows us that all along, we know the way forward. If only we stop long enough to be quiet, and listen.

I’d like to challenge someone each day to share a bit of their own wisdom from home practice that day. (It doesn’t have to be long!) I’d love if those challenged can then pick another to challenge, to share a photo and wisdom from their home practice, or sadhana. Any practice of meditation, yoga postures, breathing, mindfulness, mantra, etc. Practice and share! ✌🏽

...SI, ES...Moverse lentamente pero de manera constante, en mi opinion, es lo mejor para el cuerpo. 😊
Le damos la oportunidad a cada músculo a que trabaje mucho más profundo cuando atraviesa y siente cada ejercicio / #asana pose de yoga. 🙌🏻
Tenemos la idea de que sólo los movimientos fuertes y rápidos queman calorias y trabajan el cuerpo. ☝🏻
Durante muchos años me resistí al yoga pensando que era una práctica muy suave, aburrida y no era “suficiente”. Después de dos años de práctica puedo decir que nunca me sentí tan satisfecha, consciente y a gusto con mi cuerpo!!
La ansiedad con la comida bajo, la exigencia con tener siempre el cuerpo “perfecto” también. 🙌🏻💜
Por algo es una disciplina milenaria👈🏻
Mi cuerpo se fortaleció como NUNCA😎💪🏻, la mente se calmó 🙏🏻 y el corazón se sigue expandiendo 🙌🏻💜 .
