Officially 1️⃣5️⃣ lbs ⬇️ since I started December 15 so like exactly a month. Not bad. Hopefully I will loose another 1️⃣5️⃣ next month. But also happy and never felt more motivated. Although today I decided to run like outside instead of the treadmill. Some #deadlifting this evening with some light #benching. Ensuring to take my time and tweaking what needs to be tweaked. Deadlifts looks better today after a slight mod. When they say #sumoeatsbutt I think I can clearly envision why now. And I think I know why they have bench in competition they have the head facing the judge... the other head.. .

Great post by @jmaxfitness here. It really just comes down to sticking to the basics that have worked forever and avoiding the unique, gimmicky stuff that comes off as core training. 
DUMB EXERCISES VS SMART EXERCISES by @jmaxfitness -
Just because an exercise looks cool or impressive on YouTube, it doesn't mean that you should be doing it too.

For example, if you want to look jacked, you need to put as much tension into the muscle as possible to BUILD THE MUSCLE.  If you're standing on a bosu ball doing squats and/or curls, you're not able maximize the tension, and you're wasting your time.

You need to stick to the basics because they work. Is it boring? Maybe. Does it work? Yes. In all honest, you know what's more impressive than squatting on a bosu ball? Being able to squat 400lbs, bench press 300lbs, deadlift 500lbs, and row 200lbs.  You'll get more jacked by doing this too.

Did someone say deadlifts?! 🤤😍 My favorite exercise! Why? Because it works several muscles all at once and… I’ve always had a thing for the “heavy” lifts 😏😝

But more often then not it is performed incorrectly. Why?  Mostly because it is such a complex movement allowing for lots of room for error. ———————————————
So how do you properly perform a deadlift? 
1. Walk to the bar. Stand with your mid-foot under the bar. Your shins shouldn’t touch it yet. Point your toes slightly outwards. 
2.Grab the bar. Bend over without bending your legs. Grip the bar narrow, about shoulder-width apart. 
3. Bend your knees. Drop into position by bending your knees until your shins touch the bar. Do NOT let the bar move away from your mid-foot. If it moves, start from scratch with step one.
4. Lift your chest. Straighten your back by raising you chest and engaging your core (flexing). Do not change your position – keep the bar over your mid-foot, your shins against the bar, and your hips where they are.
5. Pull. Take a big breath, hold it and stand up with the weight exhaling at the top (it you listen you can hear me exhale). Keep the bar in contact with your legs while you pull. Stand up tall and squeeze your glutes - Don’t shrug or lean back at the top. ———————————————

Your training split is dictated by how many days per week you can train (and how long you've been training).

3 DAYS PER WEEK. If you can only get into the gym 3-days per week, then stick to a full body program. Use big, compound lifts and aim to get stronger in these lifts. This is ideal for busy guys or beginners (full body workouts work for everyone by the way).

4 DAYS PER WEEK. If you can only train 4-days per week, use an upper/lower split. The first half of the week is dedicated to training in the 4-8 rep range. The 2nd half of the week is for training in the 8-15+ rep range. This is an idea split for intermediates.

It's max out week. So we hit deads tonight, I did not want to count the weight, if I knew I'd psych myself out too much. The last time I maxed, I hit 250lbs. This was 285lbs and I lost it. Lost. It. Not having a belt really blows on heavy days. Tried for 5 and wasn’t able to lock it out. Gonna try this out again once my new belt comes in! 6 weeks out @140lbs. Only a few more pounds to cut till I make weight! . Need to start training conventional since I use all back in sumo anyways 🤦🏼‍♀️

Squat Day 🔥 405x2 for 3 sets and then 2 singles. Im proud of myself bc I actually set a rep goal and stuck to it. I normally go in to every squat and deadlift session with a plan to hit a certain weight for reps/sets...I rarely ever stick to it though. This year is to getting stronger. Making a plan and sticking to it

🔥 Do you (WANT) to get in shape?

I'm 100% serious, not joking 
You SAY you want to get in shape, but trust me you don't... If you did, it wouldn't be some after thought but a conscious decision that you make every day

You'd be waking up early to exercise even though you only got 4 hours of sleep because you were stuck at the office all night working on a big project for your company 
OR 
You'd be skipping that happy hour but instead you decide to indulge eat a bunch of crap have 1 too many drinks

If you really wanted a change you would actually make an effort to do.. You would stop making excuses about why your body is "magically" different. 
You would quit lying to yourself and just admit your out of shape probably put on an extra 20-30lbs but you tell yourself its muscle (it's not) 
You would actually exercise instead of getting on a damn treadmill casually walking and say you worked out

You would change your nightly routine to make sure you're getting enough sleep to recover and wake up feeling refreshed to tackle the day

You would surround yourself with like minded people who are all trying to better themselves instead of hanging out with people who are trying to bring you down 
You'd become the best version of yourself the 6-Figure man physically, mentally, and emotionally 
This post might be "too real" for some but I'm tired of the BS of people wanting results but not willing to do anything about.

Trust me, I get it that everyone has their own unique situations. Yes, yours might be tougher than other because you work 10 hours a day, have a family, etc I GET IT. 
The reality is that situation that is your life isn't going to change and you need to accept it as your own. 
Once you do that your excuses will subside and a new sense of believe and confidence will overcome you that you haven't felt for years.

Failure.

Remember when I said work to your 8-9/10 RPE? This is what I mean. This is a 9.5/10 lift. 
This client is 120lbs and the weight she’s lifting is 170. She hits failure on her 3rd rep of her last set. Did you see it? Lets dig in! 
The first two reps are great! Watch what happens as she struggles with the 3rd rep. As she pushes through the ground, the left leg hamstring seems to give up a little and be overpowered by the quad. She starts to drive through the left heel which shifts the hips to the right and rotates the trap bar counter clockwise. 
Fortunately, she has a strong core which keeps her spine in line and allows her to safely lower the last rep. 
We shifted gears after this set and changed exercises, lowered the weight and increased the volume. 
These are the workout notes you should be speaking with your remote coach about! Take videos, review your plan and add copious notes to it. What did you feel? How many reps did you have left in the tank? Are you feeling the work in the muscles you’re trying to target?

Today’s workout called for 2 heavy singles on deadlift. Went for a PR at 260 (first vid) felt really easy so went up to 270 for the second single (second vid) witch still felt pretty easy. Feel like I could have jumped to 285 for that set but might have been a grinder. Safe to say @mckenna_dylan ‘s program is doing its job!!!

Was supposed to be a semi heavy Deadlift day but my SI was bothering me pretty bad for what ever reason. I can honestly say it's not from pulling that caused it but, none the less. Just pulled a few singles with 500 and 525 for a single just working on technique still. Definetly an off day all around.
