@johnromaniello at it again with a humorous and informational post. Which do you prefer? I’m 100% a LISS person myself. Probably cause I suck at most HIIT workouts to start, but I just feel shitty when I’m done. With LISS, It certainly doesn’t feel as badass as doing a quick interval workout or sprints, but it’s a lot less taxing. Not to mention you can watch your favorite Netflix show at the same time 😏

It’s incredible to think about the decisions we’ve made in our past that have lead us to where we are today. Let me give you a quick example. This picture is the very first #transformationtuesday picture I posted on Instagram and the picture that would ultimately, begin my fitness career.
It was because of this picture that my friends and family started asking me for advice and help.
It was because of this picture that strangers started following me and asking me to teach them how to eat properly and exercise for them to not only look better but more importantly, feel better.
It was because of this picture that I changed the whole trajectory of my life and decided to get my personal training certification.
And it is because of this picture that I realized that my true passion is inspiring and helping others reach their goals. Crazy, isn’t it? And how did this picture actually happen? It all happened because one day I said “screw it” & decided to join the @bodybuildingcom challenge with @kbaymiller & @craigcapurso. 💥 CAN YOU BURN BELLY FAT BY DOING CRUNCHES? 💥

I had to make this post because I’ve seen it too many times, a great majority of the people still believe that fat spot reduction is possible by doing exercises targeting that body part and that somehow the fat will magically turn into a muscle. Unfortunately, that’s not possible. 👉

Let’s say that Matt does hundreds of crunches a day, he may develop strong abs, but they'll still be hidden by fat. Therefore, exercises can help you to build muscle, and burn more calories due to activity but it won’t make you lose fat unless you’re not monitoring your diet. 🏋

To clear that once for all, fat cannot turn into a muscle. The only way to actually get rid of that fat is to stay in a caloric deficit for an extended period of time (consuming fewer calories than burning throughout the day). 👍

- walk out onto your hands
- Tap your shoulder with opposite hand
- slowly go down into a press up
- as you push up push back onto your toes

- to squeeze her bum and abs (such belly button in)
- go slow!

👊The left foot rotates onto the edge of foot as you rotate in a tight arc to the right.

👊Right arm lifts and pulls back to guard position as you drive from the hip to bring the left leg parallel to the ground.

📃In today's Daily Prophet, you'll find info on must have gym equipment at home, if you don't want to pay for a gym membership, or feel extremely intimidated going to one, but want to get back in shape n' get stronger.

⛺️Not much space in you Wizardly Crib? No worries. There is even stuff you can take with you to Hogwarts - all of it fits in your trunk perfectly. A few Pro tips and notes on each piece of equipment

🌟Kettlebells - anywhere between 10-14kgs is a good start. This is the weight you can do lots of leg work with 🌟Dumbbells - a pair of 7.5-12.5lbs would go along  the way for exercises that KB are heavy to use yet.(usually arm stuff)
🌟Pull-up bands - 1/4 inch pull up band can get you ways. You can work out your core, arms, legs pretty much everything.
🌟Mini-bands - get yourself a set of 5-6 of different resistance. 🌟Valslides - you can use towel instead of these if you have hard wood floor or a turf. But it's hard to move a towel on a carpet.
🌟Skip rope - great cardio tool.
🌟Pull up bar - get it even if you can't yet do a pull up (check the videos btw)
🌟Workout bench - if the space allows it's a great investment as there are tons of exercises you can do on it.
🌟Med ball - great for core work and  a cardio piece. 6-8lbs is a great start. -

Training is a major component when trying to lose body fat.
There are so many different ways to exercise, but the important thing to remember about training is that getting stronger and building muscle should be the priority. I know many people get turned off by the idea of building muscle. The reality is that you are not going to get big and bulky. If you are eating a calorie restrictive diet, you will not get bulky, but you will get leaner, and be able maintain muscle. In many cases people will build muscle and lose fat simultaneously.

Staying active throughout the day is essential. If you sit for large chunks of the day, creating time to go for a 5-10 minute walk, to take the dog for a walk, to take the stairs instead of the elevator you can burn more calories during the day, and you are improving your ability to lose body fat. 
One of the most overlooked components of a good training program is mobility. If you do not have the ability to perform the basic movement patterns correctly because of a lack of flexibility and mobility you are going to have major problems. Make it a priority to move better, and you will see how quickly your workouts will improve and how much better you feel each day.

Trust me.. any exercise is good for fat loss💪 the idea that there are a certain exercises work to lose weight is a myth. Today's #TransformationTuesday goes out to @rockstarfit_jp, who last year decided he wanted to step it up a notch in his training & diet and compete in a physique show. We spent time initially building muscle, and then slowly chipped away at the body fat till we got him the stage look he was after.

After qualifying and competing at the British finals last year, he's now deep into his off season, where the focus is all on progressing his big indicator lifts. JP's had a ton of injuries over the years, so it's always been about finding the right exercises that fit his mechanics best, and allow him to be progressive pain free. This has required a lot of tweaking on the programming front, but after trial and error, we've managed to nail it down.

"Akash is an all in type of human much like myself and I knew that he’d been to those dark places during his own prep so would know best how to keep me from driving myself crazy when I got to that stage.

Having a coach for me is also about objectivity, so whoever I brought in had to be someone I could rely on to shoot straight from the hip. I knew that if I was behind schedule Akash would tell me and if he made a complimentary remark I’d 100% know that I was on point.

We often see these incredible physique pics on Instagram. The guys are shredded, with ripped 8-packs and arms with veins that pop.

What you don't see is all the hard work that goes into maintaining that physique. It's not natural to have a super low body fat percentage. Your body is f*cked. You're ALWAYS hungry. You crave screwed up things like eating a full stick of butter, and you're cranky and sometimes unpleasant to be around.

You can't expect to live a normal life and be shredded year round. Being shredded is an occasional thing that you will do for a photoshoot or stepping on stage.

Alternatively, you can live your life being lean year round. Sure, you'll experience feeling hunger occasionally and have cravings for normal things like pizza, but at least you can be happy. The best part is, you still look awesome.

Doing the weekly shop and prepping everything on the Sunday is probably the most common practice that most people have. Yes it does take a tad longer however it's an investment that's worth while in my eyes 👀

This is pretty similar to the weekly one but instead of making a weeks worth of food, you just do it day by day. This is perfect if you have time on the evenings to cook for the next day. Sometimes cooking extra in the evening and using it the next day can save time 🙌👊🏻

Fat Loss Hierarchy 🔓 - Cardio is one of the worst ways for you to lose fat.

If you want to lose fat, start at the base of the pyramid. Your diet is most important. For Calories, bodyweight (lbs) x 10-12 is a great way to lose fat. For protein, get a minimum of 0.82g/lb, so if you're 200lbs, that's 164g of protein per day MINIMUM.

The next most important thing you can do to lose fat is to lift weights. Stay strong, and get stronger. This will help you maintain or build muscle mass. More muscle means your metabolism is higher, so you burn more calories throughout the day. -
You can easily just do diet and weight training and lose fat, but if you have more free time, you can do some HIIT. Interval training, barbell complexes, and sled pushes all work well here.

Lastly, I'd say, avoid long and slow boring cardio, but if you must do it, then make sure you're doing everything else FIRST. Long, slow cardio is your last resort. It's like jumping to hyperspace in an asteroid belt.

💥WHEN SHOULD YOU HAVE A REST DAY💥

Rest days are hugely important when it comes to recovering, getting stronger and leaner. So having a regular rest day every week is a must.
--
However there are other reasons why a rest day may come in handy.
--
1️⃣ If you are ill or sick🤢 there is nothing worse then going to the gym and being next to someone who is coughing their lungs up. If you are ill, stay at home, get plenty of sleep and drink a lot of water👊🏻

2️⃣ When you have trained more than 6 days in a row. Kind of what I said at the start. Staying away from training for 1 day won't kill your progress. You will only come back stronger with more focus.

First and foremost, expecting the numbers to go down every week is a big ask from yourself.. (stop this now). Secondly, just because the number hasn't dropped, doesn't mean you haven't lost fat. 🙌 Fat and body weight are 2 different things. Make sure you keep that in mind ❤️

What I’m about to share with you is pretty much the combination of two things you can understand easily:

1. Raising your heart rate
2. Doing it with strength exercises

What we have is the efficient fat burning effect often related to HIIT styles and the all important muscle maintaining and strength component of, well, strength exercises.

The reason I’ve separated these exercises is so you train your whole body. It’s not vital all the time but generally make sure you’re training your whole body.

And pick two leg exercises while trying to make sure there’s some single leg exercises, squats and hip hinge type movements in there.

The rest of the rules are pretty simple:

1. Proper form

Seriously this is always a rule.

2. Aim for 2 pieces max.

This is just for the sake of your sanity. And the sanity of those around you.

3. Aim for one station max
-
Set up by a bench, rack, TRX or maybe a machine or cable. And bring equipment to it. Don’t be running around the gym.

You can change reps, exercise selections and tempos to limit the equipment needed too.

4. Use bodyweight exercises, tempos, and exercise selection to limit space and equipment needed
5. Keep very short between exercises and around 60-90 seconds between circuits.
6. And have some fun because it’s gonna be way worse if you don’t 😉

You’ll often see the crazy physique pics of guys on social media where they’re shredded with ripped 8-pack and veins like roadmaps all over the body.

What you don’t see is the other side – that your life sucks. It’s not natural, healthy or normal to be that shredded, but for the sadistic few that like to push the limit with their condition, it’s certainly an interesting experience.

Getting lean is pretty easy, but getting peeled is whole new level of sacrifice, discipline and focus that few people have, or willing to. However, besides competitive bodybuilding, there’s rarely ever a need to be shredded. The majority of my clients don’t compete; they’re just serious lifters who want to push themselves hard and get into great shape.

Being lean is great. You look AND feel good, and it allows you continue living your life almost normally, only requiring some extra thought about diet and activity levels.

If you did want to push the limit though, here are 8 things you’ll experience & learn…
1) Some hunger vs. constant hunger
2) Normal vs. weird cravings (bottle of soy sauce, anyone?)
3) Happy vs. cranky
4) No diet or training ‘flexibility’, or room for error
5) 'Bro science' starts to work (fasted cardio, carb ‘cut offs’ etc.)
6) You need muscle (“you can’t carve a pebble…”)
7) Constant mind games
8) Sacrifice

Heyoo 🤗 so here's some tips on what to do/ not do when it comes to getting rid of stubborn belly fat.

Now I must warn you... it may not be what you want to hear👂

❌What not to do❌

Weigh yourself daily. It's pretty much like watching paint dry. You WILL drive yourself mad.

Do hours of cardio work. Now there's nothing wrong with jumping on the treadmill for 45 mins and getting a sweat on. However doing that repetitively will only get you so far. Mix your training with resistance work.

Cut out carbs completely. Just no

Stick to an all or nothing diet plan. You must have some flexibility with your nutrition and training. Be prepared to adapt when things happen in life. It's not a bad thing!

Be patient, it helps to understand this will take time, and that you are not "going slow"

Be flexible with your plan... okay I just went over that.. dammit

Train 2-3 x a week. Training can mean many different things. Running outdoors, swimming, climbing. As long as you are purposefully doing some sort of movement a few times a week you will be moving the needle forward faster.

And last but not least, make sure you are in a calorie deficit. The majority of the time, a lot of people don't know how much calories they are actually consuming. Work out what you need to lose weight and track it for 90 days. It can only go 1 way from there ❤️

It's pretty much like watching paint dry. You WILL drive yourself mad. - Do hours of cardio work. Now there's nothing wrong with jumping on the treadmill for 45 mins and getting a sweat on. However doing that repetitively will only get you so far. Mix your training with resistance work. - Cut out carbs completely. Just no - Stick to an all or nothing diet plan. You must have some flexibility with your nutrition and training. Be prepared to adapt when things happen in life. It's not a bad thing! -- What to do - Be patient, it helps to understand this will take time, and that you are not "going slow" - Be flexible with your plan... okay I just went over that.. dammit - Train 2-3 x a week. Training can mean many different things. Running outdoors, swimming, climbing. As long as you are purposefully doing some sort of movement a few times a week you will be moving the needle forward faster. - And last but not least, make sure you are in a calorie deficit. The majority of the time, a lot of people don't know how much calories they are actually consuming. Work out what you need to lose weight and track it for 90 days. Fat loss is a battle.  Go in with the right tools, and you’ll get lean.

Go in with the wrong tools (ahem long distance running, apple cider vinegar, and bulletproof coffee), and you’ll be shooting yourself in the foot.

It’s the equivalent of bringing a knife to a lightsaber battle.
-
Here’s how to lose fat in 3 easy steps:
-
Lift weights.  My god if there is one thing you should be doing to lose fat, it is this.  Nothing gives you a bigger bang for your buck.
-
Sustainable caloric deficit.  You can’t lose weight unless you’re in a caloric deficit.  This means EATING LESS FOOD THAN YOU BURN.  Aim for bodyweight (lbs) x 10-12.  So if you’re 200lbs, eat 2000 Calories per day.

High Intensity Interval Training.  This cardio is the best bang for your buck.  My favourite interval is biking on a high resistance as fast and hard as you can for as long as you can.  You want to fail around 15-20 seconds, so adjust the resistance accordingly. Rest 2 minutes and repeat for a total of 2-5 rounds. (This is harder than it sounds, trust me).

What I’m about to share with you is pretty much the combination of two things you can understand easily:

1. Raising your heart rate
2. Doing it with strength exercises

What we have is the efficient fat burning effect often related to HIIT styles and the all important muscle maintaining and strength component of, well, strength exercises.

The reason I’ve separated these exercises is so you train your whole body. It’s not vital all the time but generally make sure you’re training your whole body.
-
And pick two leg exercises while trying to make sure there’s some single leg exercises, squats and hip hinge type movements in there.

The rest of the rules are pretty simple:

1. Proper form

Seriously this is always a rule.

2. Aim for 2 pieces max.
-
This is just for the sake of your sanity. And the sanity of those around you.

3. Aim for one station max
-
Set up by a bench, rack, TRX or maybe a machine or cable. And bring equipment to it. Don’t be running around the gym.

You can change reps, exercise selections and tempos to limit the equipment needed too.
-
4. Use bodyweight exercises, tempos, and exercise selection to limit space and equipment needed
5. Keep very short between exercises and around 60-90 seconds between circuits.
6. And have some fun because it’s gonna be way worse if you don’t 😉

We often see these incredible physique pics on Instagram. The guys are shredded, with ripped 8-packs and arms with veins that pop.

What you don't see is all the hard work that goes into maintaining that physique. It's not natural to have a super low body fat percentage. Your body is f*cked. You're ALWAYS hungry. You crave screwed up things like eating a full stick of butter, and you're cranky and sometimes unpleasant to be around.

You can't expect to live a normal life and be shredded year round. Being shredded is an occasional thing that you will do for a photoshoot or stepping on stage.
-
Alternatively, you can live your life being lean year round. Sure, you'll experience feeling hunger occasionally and have cravings for normal things like pizza, but at least you can be happy. The best part is, you still look awesome.

Perform 50 totals reps (25 on each leg) with 1/2 bodyweight (90lbs) 
Rest as needed. Record time.

There is one way to burn fat through exercise more effectively than others.
-
It isn’t cardio — even though there’s nothing wrong with cardio.
-
And it’s better than simply lifting weights — even if there’s nothing wrong with simply lifting weights.
-
What I’m about to share with you is pretty much the combination of two things you can understand easily:
-
1. Raising your heart rate
2. Doing it with strength exercises
-
What we have is the efficient fat burning effect often related to HIIT styles and the all important muscle maintaining and strength component of, well, strength exercises.
-
The reason I’ve separated these exercises is so you train your whole body. It’s not vital all the time but generally make sure you’re training your whole body.
-
And pick two leg exercises while trying to make sure there’s some single leg exercises, squats and hip hinge type movements in there.
-
The rest of the rules are pretty simple:
-
1. Proper form
-
Seriously this is always a rule.
-
2. Aim for 2 pieces max.
-
This is just for the sake of your sanity. And the sanity of those around you.
-
3. Aim for one station max
-
Set up by a bench, rack, TRX or maybe a machine or cable. And bring equipment to it. Don’t be running around the gym.
-
You can change reps, exercise selections and tempos to limit the equipment needed too.
-
4. Use bodyweight exercises, tempos, and exercise selection to limit space and equipment needed
5. Keep very short between exercises and around 60-90 seconds between circuits.
6. And have some fun because it’s gonna be way worse if you don’t 😉
