REVIEW OF SUPER SLIMEY BY YOING THUG AND FUTURE
Super Slimey is a surprise collab mixtape dropped a couple nights ago by superstar trap artists Young Thug and Future. I’ve never really been a fan of Future’s music, but Young Thug has been really impressing me ever since his 2016 mixtape Jeffery. Combining these two actually resulted in a pretty dope project. The production throughout is amazing, and Future and Thug really have great chemistry. In spite of my feelings on Future’s solo music, I actually really enjoyed what he did on Super Slimey. His style complimented Thugger so well I was actually kinda shocked. He legit spazzed on some tracks, giving us some dope, catchy flows. His delivery was still kinda annoying at times, but I enjoyed what he did for the most part. Young Thug sounded good on this as well, although I wish he had used less auto tune. It’s one thing for Future, because that’s the style he’s known for, but Young Thug has consistently proven himself to be able to sound great without it, considering his fun delivery and unique voice. Thugger still sounded good for the most part, but he definitely did not do as much as I feel he could have delivery-wise. That’s really the only major problem i have with this project though. I could talk about the traditional criticisms of these two artists: the lack of lyricism/subject matter, or the fact that you can barely understand them at some points, but honestly that’s kind of redundant at this point. You know what you’re getting into when you put on this mixtape, and overall Future and Thug really do their thing and do it well. There are definitely some skipable tracks, but overall it’s an extremely fun, enjoyable listen with lots of bangers throughout.
