We are now in week 3 of 2018. How is everyone’s resolutions going? If any of you have a resolution of fat loss, Do not give up now because your weight is fluctuating. It could be simply a gain of muscle due to the lack of training throughout silly season and/or your amazing body doing its magic of holding onto water. Here is a simple diagram that @jmaxfitness shared,  which explains it perfectly 👌

I bet all of you wonder why, even if you start dieting, your weight just doesn’t want to go down. And no, it’s not because you’re “special”, “God hates you” or whatever your reason might be.. the simple answer is: Water retention. -
And besides the muscle gains that could happen for beginners [(and still impair WEIGHT) but not fat loss] let’s take a finer look at what happens to the fat cells once you start dieting. -
When you start eating at a caloric deficit, meaning that you’re now providing less nutrients to your body, for it to use its internal stores of energy, your fat cells start releasing fat for the “missing” energy not coming from your diet. -
However, because these cells are VERY stubborn, they get refilled with water first, before saying the final goodbye. -
It’s like a double check from your body which’s telling you: “are you really wanting me to release this precious stored energy?”

Yeah..
This means your weight could fluctuate alot and even go higher, freak you out more and make you quit, but you shouldn’t. 
I know how frustrating it is to see your weight either stall or go higher when you’re depriving yourself, but that’s just the way it is! -
You’re just one step further from finally losing the water weight which is literally MASKING your progress, and finally reveal your hard work done in the past weeks. -
As always consistency is key. In everything.

01.16.18 // #JanuaryWhole30 DAY SIXTEEN! Over the hump, past the halfway point, and it’s all downhill from here! 🏂⛷While I wait for #TIGERBLOOD to kick in, I wanna share some of the non-scale victories I’ve already experienced! 🐯

For starters, I’m sleeping SO much better. No more tossing and turning, no more waking up still exhausted. My eyes are brighter, my skin is smoother, and my nose isn’t stuffy. I feel like I’ve already got a little more pep in my step - but I’ve also upped my daily rituals to include collagen, ACV, and a nightly probiotic, plus I’ve practiced yoga every day this year. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sounds impressive until I remember we’re only sixteen days in. 😂

Dont listen to most trainers, understand that the most important part of your fitness journey is sustainability. Becoming healthy is truly a long term process, fast results arent good results. Trainers gloating about a client losing 9 lbs in a week doesnt make them good trainers. Educating and setting up clients for long term success does. 6 months of hard diet and exercise is pointless if its not something you can continue doing long term. Eating healthier definately has its benefits but that lifestyle is mentally exhausting. Educate yourself, work hard and eat happy (to an extent). Information is free and readily available, dont invest time and resources into trainers that arent truly invested in you.

Based on yesterday’s post on bench press part path.. This may not be the best representation but I hope you understand what I was getting at.

The first video is correct. The bar isn’t being pushed straight up in a straight line but rather back towards your head. Because a bench press bar path should not be straight up and down.

The second video is incorrect. You see the backwards J is was talking about? That’s what happens if you push the bar straight up because once you reach the top you HAVE to bring the bar back anyways. 
___
By bringing the bar back towards your head once it leaves your chest, will decrease shoulder flexion demands without affecting elbow extension or shoulder horizontal adduction demands. This will help you lift more weight/do more reps and protect your shoulders more. 
___
Try this out next time you bench if you aren’t already, and watch your lifts improve. #strengthguide

I tried to stick a CrossFit style workout in for cardio, I did DT in just under 4 minutes - got my first bar to the throat doing hang power cleans 😂 I felt weak af this morning though, started at 95 pounds and had to back it down to 65 😝

Pre-breakfast: Blue Raspberry Spark.

Breakfast: Cookies and Cream Protein Shake.

AM Snack: Protein Water, strawberries, light string cheese.
.
Lunch: 1/2 C brown rice, shredded salsa chicken, plain Greek yogurt, 100 cal guacamole and fresh jalapeños.

PM Snack: Extra dose of Spark, roasted red pepper hummus, carrots, green peppers, another protein shake.
.
Dinner: 1/3 Lb, 93/7 burger with Sara Lee 80 cal whole wheat bun, light mayo, little ketchup, dill relish and a yummy sweet potato with a little butter and salt. .

Last week I didn’t feel the best and kept my workouts pretty light. I still don’t feel I’m at full strength, so I have stuck with lower weights and higher reps. Always listen to your body and do what is best for YOU. Especially since it’s cold and flu season. This is also where proper nutrition makes the biggest difference! Flexible dieting is great for balance, but make sure you are consuming nutrients to fuel you from the inside out. 🍎🥦🍋

As seen on my insta story, I decided to post this because I feel cute today, I feel confident, and I had a BOMB 💣 lift this morning.

One of the things I’ve always struggled the most with is balance. I’m an all or nothing kind of girl so either I never ever cheat on my diet or I’m eating a whole jar of almond butter in a week. 🤰🏻Recently I’ve been sooooo much better at allowing myself the freedom to randomly go get froyo or even have some drinks with my fam if that’s what I want. 🤩 There is SO much power and freedom that comes with finding your balance and although I know I’ll always struggle with wanting to be on point 100% of the time, I have found my personal growth lately to be a huge positive so far. ❤️
