💥 I came to a point last week as I was completing my power list for the day,courtesy of @andyfrisella, and reflecting on my critical tasks that we’re going to get me to my goals.
-
✊🏾What I found is that I was not taking enough time for myself. This was hard to admit because I’ve always been a giver to others. But, when you give so much of yourself that your mental health begins to decline it’s time to take a step back.

💥That is exactly what I did! I made it a point to
👉🏾take care of my clients
👉🏾take time to call & check on the parents& family 👉🏾prayer & reflection time
👉🏾enjoy some Favorite tv shows
👉🏾still check in with you guys on my story
👉🏾 read a good book -
🌐 But, most importantly when all my tasks were done relax and go to sleep.

Throwback to 2014 and one of my favourite contest memories to date. This year I will be rooting on my athletes from the sidelines as @perfectfit4u has established a powerhouse prep team of 15 fantastic women who will be beginning their own journey to the stage in just 2 weeks. This sport teaches you a lot about yourself and your body, and as much as my time away from the stage has been enjoyed and necessary, I certainly owe a lot of my passion for fitness to this sport. I am looking forward to mentoring my amazing group of girls as they prepare for their 2018 spring shows. My secret sauce is teaching women how to do the exercises they thought were just for men & getting them really freakin strong at it 😏Lets be honest doesn't it feel badass when you finally nail your deadlift form?? 🙌🏽

So once you've figured out the form how do you program your workouts to make it most effective and more importantly get stronger?! I use a DUP method & here are my top tips: ✖️ Work in 4 week cycles and include a deload week
✖️ Every session try and do a little better than the previous one by increasing weight or sets or decreasing your rest time
✖️ Have one heavy day & one light day, and focus on one rep range for each of those a full 4 weeks
✖️ Strategically use failure sets to drive progressive overload

Just a little work this week as @gymbunny_1588 start her 12 week training cycle to prepare for state powerlifting records in April.

The fastest and smoothest she's ever repped out 135 for 15 reps... for 3 sets then increased weight the next 2 sets.

Had lots of expectations that today would be deep cleaning day and I’d get all this meal prep done and prep for classes tmrw and do things off my to do list, etc. BUT it turned out to be a not so productive lazy day. I did have time to make it to Whole Foods and get some fresh ingredients to make a chicken sausage/veggie meal (recipe makes lots, so I meal prepped ish by saving the rest in one large Tupperware I’ll use throughout the next few days on top of rice or quinoa or noodles) • I then had five guys🍔 for dinner and watched New Girl💕❤️ I’ll miss break

TRAINING UPDATE:
Currently on week 3 of volume. My body is still lowkey wrecked from the 2 AMRAPs I did last week but it still turned out to a be a good session to push through. Today called for a 7x4 with 405 lbs which is roughly 75% of 1RM. Working more of my technique and efficiency. Focus was on patience off the floor, tighter lats, core and pulling the slack out the bar better. Gonna be a little more conservative with the next coming training days to recover better. Body weight this morning was 147.0 cuz I ate like a thiccc pig last night tbh😅😂 #PakSystem @sumodeads

If you can’t stick to a diet it’s because your lazy or you don’t want. Now I’m not saying people who can stick to diets are “better” people. I just want people to be honest. ✨Banded Bosu Ball Glute Bridges.
These movements are so much harder than they look! This movement is primarily focusing on the glutes/hamstrings however, it is great for stability and core work as well!
For each movement focus on squeezing at the top of the movement for 3-5 seconds! (The video is sped up.) This is when your glutes are at their peak tension, then slowly descend on the negative to get the most out of the movement!
Add these movement before your workout for a great Glute activation or after your workouts for a leg burn out!

Spending a little bit of time doing some self education can go a long way for your future success in the gym and with your health and fitness goals. With that being said I want to share some of my knowledge and experience with you that will be indispensable.

1. KEEP IT SIMPLE! - you don’t need a large variety of exercises or to be constantly switching up your workouts to make progress. Quit with the fancy exercise selection unless your goal is to gain IG followers.
.
2. FOCUS ON THE BIG LIFTS! - squatting, deadlifting, pressing, pulling and lunging should be the cornerstones of your programming. Full body, or upper/ lower body splits will trump a “bro split” 99% of the time.
.
3. BE CONSISTENT! - be realistic about how often you can make it to the gym and go with that number. 3-4x a week is more than enough to make progress and will be essential in building confidence within yourself and making fitness a life long habit. Aim to train each muscle group 2-3x/ week.
.
4. BE PATIENT! - we all have our good days and bad days and it’s easy to get discouraged in the beginning if you’re not seeing any dramatic changes but don’t get a case of the f**k its. Think long term and don’t ever sacrifice your health for short term fads, diets or extreme challenges.
.
5. UTILIZE THE MACHINES - it can be daunting and dangerous when you start out lifting free weights for the first time especially if you don’t have the professional guidance of someone who knows what they’re doing. So until you begin to feel comfortable you can’t go too wrong with using machines.
.
After many years of training, I still tailor my own programs and probably 95% of my clients programs around these basic principles.

Whether your goal is fat loss, gaining strength or building muscle, the guidelines above are a somewhat generalized but an effective place to begin.
