This one is my take on a fly for winter fishing, with the autumn selective trouts in mind, i tend to think the winter trout also needs the fly served right in front of them.
So the idea is to fish this fly with a very slowly retrieve through the deep bathtubs close to shore.
The trigger is offcourse the color and the light weight. The inspiration came from Jens Staals “hoverfly” and my own sandstorm. During the winter when the coastal water temperature drops, the water gets ginclear and the visibility improves. So normally i go for a fairly long leader, (18feet). Ending in a 0,18-0,22 tippet. Depending on the seastate. The calmer the thinner leader. - 3 hours ago
