Since collaborating with a local homeless #shelter , I’ve been asked to help bring #awareness to mental health and #homelessness . There are so many small gestures you can do to #help someone in need.. if it makes you feel uncomfortable to give to a #charity you may not be familiar with or give money to someone standing on the street.. you can give back in so many other ways.
One idea is #creating a “Hope Tote” and this idea is inexpensive, maybe the cost of two #coffees , and immensely helpful and #kind . The littles and I put these items together this week and it will go inside a small, reusable tote we purchased at #Target . All of the items (except the book) came from the Dollar Store; this #tote contains soap, tissues, chapstick, hand lotion, toothbrush, #toothpaste , Tums, a knit hat, thick men’s socks, wet ones, gum, a heat therapy patch, #deodorant , a few snacks, water, #bandaids , an inspirational/self-help #book , and cough drops. There are hundreds of inexpensive #items you could place in these totes to offer someone hope, kindness, warmth, a snack, and a little #love .
We plan on dropping off a few of these totes this weekend to those in need in the Portland, #Maine area. How can you offer kindness and love to another in need? We’ve all been low before or in an unimaginable situation.. please lift one another up and out of the #darkness by giving back. “When you have more than you need, build a longer table not a higher fence.” .
