It has been a week since classes started but I still find myself caught in deep awe most of the time just by knowing that I am studying in @bangor_university through the #CheveningScholarship of the @cheveningfco. Honestly, there are still times that I pinch myself to check that I am not dreaming.
After the event yesterday, I think I just have to believe that this is real. Nine Chevening scholars from Nepal, Mongolia, Libya, Namibia, Palestine, Mexico, Cuba, Indonesia, and the Philippines were officially welcomed in a reception hosted by Vice Chancellor John Hughes at the Council Chamber of the university. The event was also attended by Chevening Program Officer, Matthew Kon.
We were asked why did we choose Bangor University a couple of times and all I answered was “because the uni is amazing”. Consistently ranking among the top in the UK in terms of student satisfaction, Bangor University is also the only uni in Wales which received Gold in the UK Teaching Excellence Framework. Also, I think this is one of the universities that offers immense support to its students to be successful - from tutors, to uni staff, to the international students office, and even from the student community.
And for me, I think I am destined to be in Bangor. I believe that this experience will open my mind to a different way of critical thinking, my eyes to a different perspective of how I see the world, and my heart to a different approach in being passionate to everything I do.
