Thai Basil Turkey
Carb 13g (8g sugar)
Sweet, salty, fire. A high protein, umami-loaded dish that pairs well with cauliflower rice if you’re keto or with rice and shredded cabbage (aka coke slaw mix) if you need some good carbs.
1 19.2oz package 99% lean ground turkey
20g coconut oil
5 tsp chopped Thai chili peppers
3 tbsp Thai basil leaves, chopped
3 tbsp chopped garlic
4 tsp sugar
2 and 3/4 tbsp Thai black soy sauce
1 and 1/4 tbsp fish sauce
Mix fish sauce, soy sauce, and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
Melt coconut oil over medium high heat in a sauté pan or wok. Add garlic and chili peppers and stir fry off the heat for 10 seconds. Return to the heat and add turkey. Continue to stir fry until turkey is almost done. Then add fish sauce mixture, stirring to mix if needed. Continue to stir fry until turkey is cooked through and deeply colored. Take off the heat, add basil leaves, and cover pan for a few minutes to wilt.
If you add a cup of rice, a fried egg, and 3oz of cole slaw mix as pictured, total macros are protein 40g, carb 58g, and fat 12g.
