Girls with weight issues. 😢 It's my mom who taught me not to be neurotic about weight. In my lifetime, I've been very skinny (104lbs) to heavy (145lbs). Now I'm OK with my current baseline weight (120lbs). I've always believed that its never HOW your body looks, but knowing WHAT it can do. So if someone tells me, 'you look fat', I just dismiss that with a thought, "Bet you can't even squat like I do."💪 One of my goals for 2018 is to squat/deadlift DOUBLE my body weight. The StrongLift 5x5 Cycle is going to be one of the hardest physical challenges I'm getting into, but I just can't explain how exciting this is for me. To anyone who reads this very long post, I hope you'll do a quick search on the benefits of strength training (especially if you're a girl). Do it! 🙋

Here are 3 exercises you can try during your next gym session! I love these🔥🔥 By the way I am so sore from yesterday’s workout I just don’t know what to do with myself😩😂
🔹TAG your workout partner and give this a try!🔹 1️⃣Wide Cable Row(you can either do this while standing up or in a little squat. I showed both ways in this video) 5x10
2️⃣Single Arm Lateral Raise 5x10
3️⃣Seal Row(you need a little height for this. As you can see I put weighted plates under the bench to raise it up a little) 4x10

1️⃣Cossack squats ➡️ this is an intermediate to advance movement but if you’re a beginner and want to try these out just make sure you’re holding on to something for your balance. How to execute 👉take a wide stance and slide side to side in a lunge position, allowing your opposite toe to come up. IMPORTANT: Make sure you are sitting back into your heel – this stretches your inner thigh and hip flexors like WOW! -

2️⃣Squat to reach ➡️take a wide stance & while keeping your legs straight reach down to your toes 😉 Sink into a deep squat and while keeping your chest up reach your hands high into the air (helping with shoulder flexibility as well). You’ll feel the stretch in your hips!

I had to make this post because I’ve seen it too many times, a great majority of the people still believe that fat spot reduction is possible by doing exercises targeting that body part and that somehow the fat will magically turn into a muscle. Unfortunately, that’s not possible. 👉

Let’s say that Matt does hundreds of crunches a day, he may develop strong abs, but they'll still be hidden by fat. Therefore, exercises can help you to build muscle, and burn more calories due to activity but it won’t make you lose fat unless you’re not monitoring your diet. 🏋

To clear that once for all, fat cannot turn into a muscle. The only way to actually get rid of that fat is to stay in a caloric deficit for an extended period of time (consuming fewer calories than burning throughout the day). 👍

We often see these incredible physique pics on Instagram. The guys are shredded, with ripped 8-packs and arms with veins that pop.

What you don't see is all the hard work that goes into maintaining that physique. It's not natural to have a super low body fat percentage. Your body is f*cked. You're ALWAYS hungry. You crave screwed up things like eating a full stick of butter, and you're cranky and sometimes unpleasant to be around.

You can't expect to live a normal life and be shredded year round. Being shredded is an occasional thing that you will do for a photoshoot or stepping on stage.

Alternatively, you can live your life being lean year round. Sure, you'll experience feeling hunger occasionally and have cravings for normal things like pizza, but at least you can be happy. The best part is, you still look awesome.

3. reverse jumping lunges (15s on each leg)

Accountability is going to be a part of this entire process. Most of the time I like to ‘do it myself’ rather than accept help (ask my fiancé he will tell you lol). Anyway, when I committed to this path I started telling close family and friends not only so they could see my progress but also because I wanted them to hold me accountable. I’m sure I’m not the only person who is a ‘do it myself-er’ but this was a big step for me because it meant I was willing to accept help from other people. To me, accountability has to come from within as well. Some people aren’t going to be there for you every step of the way, but you will! Just like a building, you are the foundation and your support system is the framework. So this will be an ongoing learning process for me but one I am excited about.

Fat Loss Hierarchy 🔓 - Cardio is one of the worst ways for you to lose fat.

If you want to lose fat, start at the base of the pyramid. Your diet is most important. For Calories, bodyweight (lbs) x 10-12 is a great way to lose fat. For protein, get a minimum of 0.82g/lb, so if you're 200lbs, that's 164g of protein per day MINIMUM.

The next most important thing you can do to lose fat is to lift weights. Stay strong, and get stronger. This will help you maintain or build muscle mass. More muscle means your metabolism is higher, so you burn more calories throughout the day. -
You can easily just do diet and weight training and lose fat, but if you have more free time, you can do some HIIT. Interval training, barbell complexes, and sled pushes all work well here.

Lastly, I'd say, avoid long and slow boring cardio, but if you must do it, then make sure you're doing everything else FIRST. Long, slow cardio is your last resort. It's like jumping to hyperspace in an asteroid belt.
