september's theme is "who's to blame?" "'stay with me' is the story of yejide and akin, a young married couple looking to expand their family while balancing the intrusion of extended family, the rejection of cultural norms, and attempting to keep threats to their marriage at bay. in a story this rich and lively, it was not hard to decide what to take from this novel and reflect in this month’s box."
finished this earlier while herb failed to distract me. this is not a genre i'm used to reading but once i began the book, it was hard to put down. definitely had moments where my blood boiled when yejide refused to stand up for herself or akin not being honest w/ himself & the woman he claimed to love. all in all, it was a very deep & meaningful read that left me thinking about all the things our mothers have done for us out of fear/love. one more thing, i never liked funmi, fuck her. 🏽 - 27 days ago
