I moan A LOT about how hard it is managing staff and all the kak that comes with it, but then I have a day like today and I remember why I’m doing what I’m doing.

I’m just so proud of my Foschini Group Pure Good team. This is Nesh, She came to Pure Good literally 2 months ago. Nesh had never worked in a kitchen before, coming to us from not so lekker work conditions in a Chinese shop somewhere. She couldn’t afford to resign if she wasn’t guaranteed another job, so she came to do a one day trial with us and I was so impressed with her work ethic, how quick she was to learn and her general all round awesomeness. So I offered her full time employment as a prep chef and scullery after 1 day. Well let me tell you after LESS than 2 months in the kitchen she just served me my breakfast of the most perfectly poached eggs and Avo on toast. She has shown that with a little faith and encouragement anyone can empower themselves to be more than they were yesterday! So far across our kitchens we have 14 ladies, only two have had any type of formal training and 1 having worked in a kitchen before hand. They have learnt everything they know from each other, from myself and from my amazing management team. I’m just so proud - 19 days ago
