With over 10 years of lifting weights consistently behind me, following an intense period of training and dieting leading up to Christmas chasing my best condition and having achieved that, I stepped away from the gym floor and have had nearly 2 months off strenuous exercise to refresh mentally and physically and allowed myself to enjoy some food and social occasions. Health to me is mind, body, and spirit. The aesthetic stuff is nice, but at the end of the day it’s all smoke and mirrors from who we actually are as people.
With new goals surrounding the sport of boxing, there will be changes to my weekly routine, training structure, methodology, and body composition.
My priorities for the next 6 months are on athletic performance, power, speed, and aerobic capacity. Here is footage from my first real session back in the gym this year showing my 5th working set (5x5) of bench press with chains paired with weighted pull ups.
Adding chains to movements like the bench press manipulate strength curves and are one of the best tools for accomodating resistance, lockout strength, explosive power and speed. It’s important to note that despite bar speed at times moving slowly, the intention to move it fast is always there 🥊 #builtnotborn #boxing #bodymindspirit - 25 days ago
