Let’s get those summer bodies in order family! I could say this post is about how core training is one of the most important pillars of being considered #fit BUT I just really want to have a tight defined stomach for this NY summer I keep hearing so much about. Make sure you hit those angles! Attack all 3 heads of the shoulder muscle in order to achieve that balanced aesthetic and functional movement so many of us are after. Everyone seems to remember to train the anterior (front) and medial (side) heads, but neglect the posterior (rear) head of shoulder. To achieve that rounded look add some rear cable flys to the end of your workout. #YMFitness #TrainWithYM

One of the more controversial exercises in the fitness community - The Dumbbell Pullover. The standing argument remains, is it better for your back or your chest? Today was difficult! Although I was told to embrace the pace of my journey, let me just say that is much easier said than done. It sucks to suck at something! It frustrates you, beats you down, and even makes you want to quit. It’s a blessing that fitness is one of the few avenues where not being good at a lift, stretch, or posture motivates me to get better at it rather than discourage me. I know how hard it can be to push through when you’re not progressing how you’d like, but committing to not giving up is the first step. I’m working on applying this mindset to other areas of my life. We all have things we can get better at. #YMFitness #TrainWithYM 🧘🏽‍♂️ 💪🏽

There are several individual muscles within the back anatomy, covering a lot of real estate. That means you need to invest time and have a deliberate approach in your training method in order to have a well developed back. Here are some key points to keep in mind when training:
🔸Watch your ELBOW position since it is your elbow (not your hand) that determines which muscles get activated when retracting for a squeeze.
🔹Protect your SPINE by avoiding to round your back with heavy loads.
🔸SQUEEZE the shoulder blades, going from full extension to peak contraction (this concept should be applied to all body parts).
🔹Building that MIND-MUSCLE connections will help you realize all them sweet gains you’re missing out on. 💪🏽

/Break • fast/ The most important meal of the day. Eating a balanced and nutritious breakfast sets the tone for the rest of your day. I mean, who wants to start the day with low energy anyway? Here’s the deal though, I hate breakfast foods (no, like really hate them 🤦🏽‍♂️). However, getting those important nutrients such as calcium, iron, b vitamins, protein and fiber into my body far outweigh those feelings. Treat you body like the temple it is and the rest will come! #YMFitness

In fitness the rule of thumb is 80/20. 80% of meeting or exceeding your fitness goals is in your #diet with the remaining 20% dedicated to your #exercise. While this isn’t exactly true, the messages remains the same, take care of your body! I am not in the best shape nor do I have a clean diet, but I want to prove to myself I can do something that seems impossible at times. And if I inspire some of you along the way that would make reaching my goals even better. #YMFitness
