[The Girl on the Train/2016]
[Genre: Mystery, Drama, Crime - Rating: 8/10]
Usually I don't tend to read other people's reviews before writing my own. But, as I went on Imdb to rate this movie, I saw that the average rating was 6.5! So, I read some reviews to try and understand why, but I ended up getting mad, because everyone was degrading this movie so much for no reason! Anyway, here's my opinion on it!
The film follows Rachel (#EmilyBlunt ), a divorced alchoholic who loves to take the train in order to watch her old house and always ends up observing a young woman, whom she admires, because she seemingly has the perfect life. Until one day, she goes missing and Rachel does everything in her power to help find her, even if that means dealing with her own demons.
Plot wise, I was very impressed by the film! We have three interwining stories, Rachel's, the missing woman's and Rachel's ex-husband's wife's story. Those three women have more in common than you think and the mystery keeps revolving around them. The whole time, I tried to guess what was going on and who might be responsible for the woman's disappearance, but I changed my mind a million times, as new evidence resurfaced! Also, you think you like a character and despise another, but a few minutes later your opinion changes and it keeps changing constantly. I liked that, as it kept me on my toes all the time.
Acting wise, Emily Blunt was on top of her game! I really found myself drawn to her in every scene. Her eyes were extremelly powerfull and you could see every emotion that hit her right through them!
All in all, #TheGirlOnTheTrain is a movie I liked very much! It had all the elements I want a thriller/mystery to have, it kept me guessing until the last minute and generally was a well structured film! - 2 days ago
