“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” - Alexander Graham Bell
For #wednesdaywisdom this quote seemed the most appropriate given where I am.
Up until now, I had never known the entire quote, only the first part. This photo is one of the first that I have ever taken in the city of Chicago with a DSLR camera and it has remained one of my favorites. This “One Way” represents more than just the standard direction of traffic. To me, it represents the inevitable flow that life takes and how instead of trying to go backwards against the flow, you have to make sure you keep moving forward. This aligns with the quote by Alexander Graham Bell in that if you spend all your time pouting because that door closed, you won’t be able to see the new door that has opened.
So while one door has closed, I refuse to allow myself to get caught up in that because my future is bright and hopeful and lies behind a new door with new possibilities. - 3 days ago
