Cure for a case of the Mondays: kitty + a tonic with tocos, spirulina and shatavari.

Shatavari is an adaptogen. Adaptogens are getting all the press right now. It's deserved, as these herbs are the best support network for keeping you going after long bouts of stress or the type of stress that just won't quit (yes, always trying to reduce the stress is best).

What you need to know about adaptogens is that this isn't their only role! They have other effects and qualities that you should always be aware of. For example, ashwagandha is heating! It may not be the best herb for you in the summer. Shatavari is it's counterpart and is cooling. It's great for vata and pitta, it helps regulate sex hormones and thyroid, and it's helpful in inflammatory digestive conditions.

To get to the point, NO you will not become bulky or manly from weight lifting.
. 
For a long time I myself thought this way, and so I followed the crowd and jumped on the treadmill – years of this hamster wheel and no results I knew there must have been something I was missing.
.
Maybe this is you right now and maybe you fear the weights thinking if I pick them up my arms are just going to get bigger, my legs will only get bigger. I know the thought of getting into the weight room may feel scary and super intimidating. Believe me I get it! (coming from the girl who used to hide in the empty classrooms at the gym to lift my 5lb dumbbells)

I am here to tell you that lifting weights is not only exciting it is rewarding. Weight training will help you lose body fat and create those feminine curves you desire (the booty and small waist) *no treadmill will do this for you*

My eyes pop open and I'm already thinking about alllllll the things. With a mile long to-do list, it can be easy to lose track of the most important thing-you. If you really want to tackle all your goals, make sure you're fitting in some time each day that fills you up and recharges you. You can't pour from an empty cup, after all. Oh yeah, and your adrenals will thank you.

A lot of people don’t know this but EBV (Epstein-Barr Virus) could very well be the underlying reason why you’re sick. —
If you’ve ever had mononucleosis when you were growing up there’s a good chance your symptoms could be coming from #ebv. EBV can transpire into; fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, MS, adrenal fatigue, and thyroid disorders, vertigo, and tinnitus. —
If in fact EBV is what is causing your autoimmune disorders you should treat the EBV and not the symptoms. How would you know? I personally had a hunch that mine were coming from Epstein-Barr virus so I treated that and decided I would do a variety of things to combat EBV and the leaky gut I had. —

I don't do anything anymore that feels forced, heavy or uninspiring. I don't chase people. I don't force myself to do shit I don't want to do. I'm committed to removing things and refining my list every single day.

So I can have time. So I can be centred and high vibe for my family and clients and those who look to me for inspiration.

Please don't DIY your health! What I mean by "DIY your health" is that a lot of people scour the internet trying to figure out what's going on with them. They think "Dr. Google" can solve their symptoms or health condition.  But unless you study physiology, work with clients regularly to improve their health, are constantly learning from some of the top names in the health and wellness space, and are looking at the most up-to-date research you will likely never solve your symptoms or health condition.
•
The human body is extremely complicated. Health is a rabbit hole and it takes years of constant study and clinical experience to start to be able to put all the pieces together to see what's really going on at a deeper, root cause level. Yet, I often standby whilst I watch as people get health condition after health condition, often which are related and could have been prevented. Or health issues that are going unchecked, which I know will lead to further complications down the road. This makes me both frustrated and sad because many people will never get the answers they seek, but this can be prevented.

When you come to see a functional health specialist such as myself, we look at things that allopathic medicine does not. We look for the root cause of the health symptoms or issues you are having, and this is how you'll end up getting better / eliminating symptoms / or having that baby you've always dreamed of.

A lot of people can get their knickers in a knot when you try to give them unsolicited advice about diet or health but this is why I urge you to keep an open mind and please don't try to DIY your health. Think of all the things you pay money to get someone else to do for you because you can't do these things yourself, (or don't want to): plumbing, electrical, installations, moving house, dentistry, personal training, the list goes on. The most important thing you can ever invest in is your health because it pays you back every, single, day of your life - so it sure as hell should be on the "pay an expert" list too. You achieve more in life, by doing less some times. I learned this the hard way - going through adrenal fatigue, to burn out and now my whole endocrine system literally crashed - I have learned to take time out. I have learned to rest when I need to. I have learned that the extra weight I am carrying around with me is because I didn’t rest. I ate the right foods, I moved my body, I meditated, but I didn’t rest. So lovelies besides telling you what to eat, how to move your body - the most important thing I can tell you is : REST when you are TIRED 🌺

The truth is, you can! It can be tedious and hard work but you can. I’ve run into a lot of people with the mindset that you can’t heal from this, they have that mindset because that’s what their doctors are telling them. It is not uncommon for women to grow a few naughty stray facial hairs.  Our Endocrine system is constantly trying regulate our hormones and keep everything in check.  Sometimes there are slip ups and that's ok.  It's all part of the joys of being a woman :P

However if you start to have consistent relatively heavy hair growth on your face there may be a problem.

Took my sweat sesh outdoors 🌳☀️ It is an absolutely gorgeous day out today (shared my workout in my stories) .

When I picked up my car rental the clerk asked me if I was headed to work. I gladly responded “Nope!! No work for me on Fridays”. Of course she wanted to know what kind of work I did.

“How much food should I be eating?”
.
This is a pretty common question that I get asked and as I do wish I give you the answer it is just not that plain and simple. Each and every person is different. I promise you no one person should be on the exact same meal plan or macros (if a coach gives you this, please run away)
.
If you are currently struggling with the answer to this question here are some quick tips that may help you out!
. 🌟 Top tips:
1️⃣Recognize that everyone one of us is different and just because it worked for your friend Sally does not mean Sally’s meal plan or macros or diet will work for you. Be opened minded that you are an individual and this matters.
.
2️⃣As long as you get in all of your required food throughout the day you will still reach your goals, do not get so hung up on meal timing and food rules, fuel your body properly for your goals and the rest will follow.
.
3️⃣Don’t always feel obligated to order the salad, just because you may be on a “diet” does not mean all you should be eating is grass
.
4️⃣Be cautious of what the internet and macro calculators tell you, unforunately this information is not taking into consideration you as a person, your lifestyle, etc.
.
🌟 Don’t over complicate things, dieting does not have to be hard, ask for help and you will be given the help and guidance you need. And remember everything in balance, if I want to ice cream I have the ice cream, I also have my fruits and veggies. Balance is always my winner and results in no extremes needed. .

🔹Transformation Thursday🔹. . 
I truly love sharing other’s success !! (actually way more than my own). She obviously had an amazing transformation on the outside but more importantly she had a mindset shift. She learned new strategies and established new healthy habits that will last a lifetime. .

Wouldn’t you want those “dieting” days to be over?!! I know I had more than enough “dieting” in my lifetime! .

This non-diet lifestyle  is one of a kind.  The “dieting” days are over baby !! Can’t wait to add more ladies to my “Sprint Into Summer” success group and watch them transform! 😀 💃. .

Like I said, I was RAW VEGAN for 3 years. Although I equate my adrenal fatigue to emotional/mental stress, it was also due to my diet. :
🌱 But isn’t raw vegan like the cleanest, healthiest thing you can do?!?

Well, yeah.
:
But it also wasn’t RIGHT for MY body type. :
I mean, my hair was falling out.
Something wasn’t right.
:
👉🏻 We all get really caught up in DIET CULTURE & fitting in a category.

The problem with that is we don’t give ourselves the chance to explore our individuality.

Instead of taking the things we like from one diet & combining it with things we know work for us we FOLLOW RULES (?¿).

Like I did. I LOVED being raw vegan. But I’m a meat-eater at heart ❤️ . Always have been.

I mean, my ex bf would (occasionally) sneak me chicken wings 🍗 under the table when no one was looking.

THAT WAS A SIGN!!!
My body was CRAVING MEAT.

I think it’s time I get REAL with you guys..

I kept going back and forth on this and I just felt like hiding and letting my nerves and fear win. But, I know my personal story and journey will help so many of you 💜
.
 A couple weeks back I posted about my diagnosis with adrenal fatigue and from there I was getting more lab work done. I got the results a couple weeks ago and am now ready to share with all of you. .
.
First, let me start by saying I truly believe this has happened for me and not to me. I am not a victim by any means and I am a far greater person and coach for this experience and journey I am on right now. My body has done some really unpredictable things in the last 5-6 months, such as gain 15lbs all on its own (with no changes to diet or training-literally felt like it happened over night), severe bloat and un-controable inflammation (to the point of being painful), trouble sleeping, brain fog, extreme exhaustion and mood swings to name my top symptoms. .
.
 I recently found out that I am estrogen dominant, meaning my body is not producing any progesterone and some days I literally feel like I am going through menopause, the hot flashes are reallllll and some days I just strip down in the middle of my apartment because I am sweating so much. My body is lacking on testosterone And lastly my T3 (thyroid) is suboptimal. I am on a couple different medications and injections and I have an amazing support team behind me on this journey. .

 I will admit seeing and feeling my body change so rapidly beyond any of my control was scary and also brought in a ton of insecurities. I immediately found myself staring in the mirror picking apart how my body was changing and there was nothing I could do about it. Being the type A person that I am I naturally wanted to control the situation. My clothes all of sudden didn’t fit, And I found myself with zero energy that the thought of going out to get my nails done was just too much. I kept thinking who is this person? Some days I feel like a stranger in my own body. .

I found myself wanting to give up, thinking that everything I am doing on my end isn’t working so what is the point? .

did you know that when you are stressed you don’t digest your food?! so that healthy salad 🥗 you ate for lunch while following up on things that are frustrating 🤬 well you weren’t able to properly break down those organic leafy greens, pasture-raised chicken, avocado, etc & benefit from all those nutrients you just paid the extra dollar for 💰 •
you need to be in a relaxed state of mind for your digestion to kick in 🧘🏻‍♀️ right now that is my main focus, to calm the fuck out. this week’s goal is to eat all meals away from my desk👩🏻‍💻 bonus points if i sit on the floor as it signals my body that i am safe & ok. eating meals with family & friends is also a fantastic way to relax & have some good laughs. as long as there are no heated debates 😉 .

That’s why I could NOT be more excited about my brand new workout program. It’s 4 days per week and ONLY 30 minutes. .

It’s no secret that I drink coffee daily. I also take fat burners, preworkout plus I diet & train regularly. Knowing that, I make a conscious effort to ensure I keep my Adrenal Glands in a healthy state!

Each day we take in stressors that can wear down our adrenal glands. Day to day stress, gym activity, caffeine, low calorie dieting etc. When our Adrenal Glands are fatigued we often see a decrease in overall energy, a decrease in our response to caffeine, a decrease in fat loss and a decrease in our energy levels.

I recommend minimal to no caffeine use while taking Adrenal restore. No fat burners, no pre workouts, no energy drinks and minimal to no coffee or diet soda. Personally I just have one cup of coffee in the morning when I use it. (I have to have a daily coffee 😬 but you can certainly do decaf!)

First things first. The coffee creamer came out WAY faster than I had anticipated prior to taking this photo my coffee isnt normally THAT pale! (But I wasn’t mad at it 🤫) - It’s no secret that I drink coffee daily. I also take fat burners, preworkout plus I diet & train regularly. Knowing that, I make a conscious effort to ensure I keep my Adrenal Glands in a healthy state! - Each day we take in stressors that can wear down our adrenal glands. It’s today’s topic in my PowerCleanse challenge so I wanted to share a little bit of my story with y’all!
I was ‘diagnosed’ with severe adrenal fatigue about 5 years after being raw vegan for 3 years.
🌱I was experiencing extreme fatigue, couldn’t get up in the mornings, I would get light headed/dizzy/blackout every time I stood up from a seated position, my hair was thin, I was moody, irritable, anxious, unhappy, zero sex drive (sry not sry), had brain fog & could not loose weight (held it all in my mid section).
🌱Mind you, I was superr healthy at the time. I was juicing everyday (wheatgrass too), making superfood smoothies, buying ONLY organic products / CSA & farmers market veggies. I was going though yoga teacher training, teaching boxing & living in the sun (my happy).
So WTF???
Well, guess what was off? My mental.
Yup. Something as simple as internalized stress can completely offset the body.
