When was the last time you ate a FANTASTIC party jollof?. And yes, rice is staple here, and it's part of our party culture but somehow you have to keep a memory of the great rice you ate under the stem of your brain so that that the wrongly cooked rice and 'rices gone wrong' will not interfere with your good memories.
I've witnessed conversation that goes like "Ahh Shola did you remember the rice we ate at Tola's birthday in 2005?" Shola:
Oh that rice, how can i forget easily?, that cook is a 'bastard'(meaning he/she is a great cook)
Rice yen dun gaan!
The rice is delicious
My point is, there are products and there are products. And that good products, services and personalities are become scarce everyday. And the same way you don't forget a good rice easily, people don't forget a great service, an awesome brand, an outstanding personality and so on.
There are cakes and there are cakes. Seamstresses are not created equally, some are trained in heaven(pun intended). Same for shoes and songs and everything. The more vendors in your industry, the better your chance of proving yourself.
Perhaps according to Vilfredo Pareto, 20% of the brands are actually doing well. Others are just trudging or just getting by, or they are just different outrightly. If you're good at what you do, mediocre brands will keep on turning their disappointed customers to you. Do not be intimidated by numbers and competition, everyone is on a journey to finding a better product and services. Be their answered prayers. Be characteristically you. Be good. If you can stand out, competition is your advantage.
Go and do it, for no two brands are the same. The difference in personalities also masks their businesses and brands. It's not the same shoes, not the same song, not the same poetry, not the same food, not the same farm, not the same ministry. You are unique, give us a taste we won't forget so easily.
Breakthrough from within.
