To be frank, I’ve been quite overwhelmed since the beginning of this pregnancy. As a generally sturdy and stable individual, the heightened emotional state I find myself in lately has not been pleasant. But truly believing in self care and being mindful of one’s own mental welfare, I actively seek out ways to decompress, especially in times where I’m “slipping”. Some people work out, take time for themselves, go to church, write. I surround myself with my loved ones, cocoon myself with their positivity, support, and caring energy.
I brunch with my girlfriends, catch a movie with my siblings, cook out of the box dinner for my family or I just sit next to Steve. Sometimes, all I really need is to be beside him and his grounded nature keeps me rooted, calms me down and brings me such comfort. Today however, I had good eats, lots of laughter, and quality time with some of my best girlfriends. Albeit, my anxiety hasn’t completely gone away, it has faded substantially.
Remember to do whatever it takes to make yourself feel better...whatever that is. Your mental state is of utmost importance, be aware of it. You can’t take care of your life, your people if you don’t take care of yourself. Repeat after me: happy mama, happy baby. It all starts with you. ️ #loveyourself #selflove #selfcare - 10 hours ago
