Saturday workout! Arms and chest today. Low weight with lots of reps. Looking to be strong, and to build lean muscles. This isn’t an overnight process. I’ve been working hard, and for months and everyday I see progress, I have more confidence and am proud of what I have accomplished. There are tons of reasons why you may not be building muscle. Let me describe 6 of the most common reasons.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1) Not eating enough calories- Building muscle requires you to not only preserve existing tissue but also add additional body mass to your frame. That means you should be tracking your calories and eating in a calorie surplus of usually 200-300 calories.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🔥⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Not eating enough protein- Protein is necessary to consume in higher amounts than sedentary folks. Shoot for 0.8-1 g/lb and you are most likely maximizing muscle mass.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Two days ago, I came down on a rock and sprained my ankle on a run. So graceful 🤷🏻‍♀️. And I get to sport this super fashionable splint and foam shoe. So now I’m down for the count 3-6 weeks🙃. Hopefully my recovery won’t take that long though, I’m already going crazy!

Happy Saturday! Yay for @christinafindsstrength and I finishing #lg30x30 today! Woohoo! Day 29 was brutal, because I switched out jump rope for decline mountain climbers! 🤣 So glad I did my 30 minutes LISS before that workout! Finished with lots of stretching and mobility. Alright, time to meet my girlfriends for dinner! Xx

Miso grilled salmon and veg. I picked up some awesome red miso at a farm market in tokyo and have put it to use!!! Stop yummy! 
4 oz salmon filet 
2 tbsp miso paste
2 tsp honey
1 tbsp soy
A sprinkle of garlic
- mix and marinate the salmon 30 minutes to a few hours. Great grill to medium, oil, and cook salmon, just a few minutes on each side should do the trick.

I was out doing my self care routine this morning. I had not walked like this in months. I took it to the big road today. I walked over 7 miles and I felt awesome.  I did 7.24 miles today. Who is up for the fitness challenge?  See those fields over yander they will be full of something good to get soon.

About 5years ago I hurt my right knee dancing in the Moomba parade. Years of dancing and netball have done a lot of damage and ive always found it hard to run any distance without feeling like my patella was wobbling around. 6 months of  weights training with @engineeredphysiques has given me the strength in my legs to run this warm-up at gym this morning with no wobbly patella. There's prob about 5 mins of walking in this but im really excited that I should be able to reach my 5km "warm up" goal fairly soon. #weightstraining #buildingmuscle

So today I took part in my first official Crossfit competition along with my fellow freqs at the Festivus Games. My goal was to do my best, compete and hope for a top 5 finish. Going in to the final WOD I found myself in 🥇 ( first place ) and with the help of the cheering section from Crossfit Frequency I held on to first and won my division. Love being part of this community and love seeing how far I have come from from being a 300+ lbs guy 3 years ago to where I am today. This was such a fun and challenging experience so Thanks for all the help and support.  Can’t wait for the next one.

First you must incorporate some type of resistance training in order to keep the muscle we've worked so hard for or in some cases recomp your physique if you are new to training. Evidently you will need some cardio training as well a fat loss begins to slow down or if you plateau plus its good for you heart. I always tell my clients don’t stress the scale!  Not all LBS are equal- #muscle weights more than fat so #losingweight isn’t the actual #goal - losing #inches is! Or #gaining them!
