Being the only son of the famous dwarven priest Geldur, Meldur's formative years were spent in the shadow of his father, who lived a life of adventure, and was hardly ever around to see his son grow up.
Meldur was taken in by the local temple, but without a father figure around - began to act out, making crude symbols out of the holy icons, and constantly getting chided by the priests.
His childish pranks were tolerated by the priests because of his fathers status, and his immaturity eventually brought some welcome humour to the holy temple.
