My other #mcm goes to 3 men: #christopherpriest @reggiehudlin @tanehisipcoates Thank you Christopher Priest for your sacrifices and paving the way for 2018 Black Panther’s Wakanda Forever Blockbuster success. Priest began his 1st writing gig in 1983, becoming the first black writer to work full time at Marvel & DC.
Priest entered the comics industry as a Marvel Comics intern in 1978. He joined Marvel's editorial staff in 1979, working for as a managing editor on Crazy Magazine and becoming the first African American editor in mainstream comics. He next became assistant editor for on the Conantitles. After a decade-long absence from comics, he returned in 2014–2015 to write a Quantum and Woody miniseries for Valiant Comics. He was chosen to write the DC Rebirth version of Deathstroke in 2016. He became the writer for Justice League in December of 2017.
In addition to comic books, Priest has written several novels and now the Blockbuster success of Black Panther! The Hudlins attended Katherine Dunham's Center for the Performing Arts, an experimental school, Warrington for high school and Reginald for after school martial arts classes. Hudlin has said that the experience was formative, and led to his older brother attending Yale University, and his attending Harvard University. In 1979, Hudlin graduated from Assumption High School in East St. Louis.
While an undergraduate at Harvard University, Hudlin directed his thesis project, a short film called House Party, which went on to receive numerous awards including first place at the Black American Cinema Society Awards. The film was inspired by his experience growing up in East St. Louis. In 1983, Hudlin graduated magna cum laude from Harvard with a B.A. in Visual and Environmental Studies. His short film thesis was the basis for his first feature film, House Party.
