Our oldest sisters cute sister-in-law shared this along with this quote on her social media...
“We live in a world that is complex and increasingly contentious. The constant availability of social media and a 24-hour news cycle bombard us with relentless messages. If we are to have any hope of sifting through the myriad of voices and the philosophies of men that attack truth, we must learn to receive revelation.
Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will perform some of His mightiest works between now and when He comes again. We will see miraculous indications that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, preside over this Church in majesty and glory. But in coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.” President Russell M. Nelson
It had me thinking a lot about social media and it has been on my mind that last little bit. I recognize huge blessings that can come from social media but I also recognize the dangers as well. It’s been on my mind a lot lately because we are trying a few things in our home to help us love more in the present and focus more on our family. So I thought I’d share a few things we are doing but I would love to hear some of your ideas and things you do in your homes as well, so please leave comments and share with us!
Now our kids aren’t of phone age so this is just things for me and my husband now that we do to try to focus more on our kids and spend more time with them.
*I have a little basket set out that me and my husband keep our phones in when we are all home during the day, so it eliminates the temptation of just grabbing your phone and looking at it for now reason. *We have a no phone policy at the dinner table. We eat dinner as a family and no phones are allowed! It is our time to spend together as a family talking about everyone’s day.
*Unplug time! I set an alarm on my phone in the evening to go off and that is our time to be done with phones for the rest of the evening. We try to enjoy our evenings together while our kids are in bed. Rather than each of us sit in bed on our phones.
....the rest will be continued in comments! - 24 days ago
