I am almost 2/3rds of the way through my exhibition ‘Daily Encounters’ and the portrait project and I am feeling so many emotions. Excited, proud, exhausted, overwhelmed, grateful and very emotional.
This morning I got to paint the gorgeous Samm Menzies @artnaround , we sat and chatted, caught up with each other’s lives, ate lunch and just drank in the beautiful atmosphere of the gallery @fortyfivedownstairs
We said goodbye and I prepared myself for a talk to a school group, then another school group, then a small uni group came in and we talked a lot about what we are all doing. I am so in awe of all of the amazing people I have met who are studying and the questions they ask.
In between all of this time other people visited the gallery, gave me beautiful feedback and asked questions. I then packed away all of my studio furniture ready for a wedding to be held in the gallery with my work hanging on the walls. This was all in the space of 4 1/2 hours.
My heart is full ️
But I may also be a little bit teary tonight. This is huge and sometimes I underestimate just how much it takes to do this and how much I expect from myself. I need to be a little gentler with me. Tomorrow is a rest day. The gallery is closed. A day by the water. Then I will return to the gallery on Saturday for another crazy day and enjoy my last week before the portrait project is no more. Thank you to everyone for contributing to this crazy project in all of the different ways you have so far.
There is still another week to go, so please drop in and say hi and see how the portrait wall is growing. by @lisasewards
