Think of all the energy, talent, and love that is being blocked by our inner critics. It’s ironic when we get caught up with our negative thoughts, it does the opposite of helping us become more self-aware. These thoughts ultimately consume us and don’t allow us to be living our fullest potential.

👉INGREDIENTS
Juice from 2 limes
Zest and juice from 1 orange
2 tbsp water
1/4 cup freshly chopped parsley
1/4 cup freshly chopped cilantro
2 tbsp olive oil
6 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp sweet chili sauce (store-bought or homemade) see notes
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp red chili flakes
4 salmon fillets (wild-caught is best)
1 red bell pepper seeded and chopped
1 orange bell pepper seeded and chopped
1 green bell pepper seeded and chopped
1 onion cut into wedges
Additional sweet chili sauce, cilantro and lime to garnish 👉INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to high broil. Line baking sheet with foil and set aside.

2. In a medium bowl whisk together the lime juice, orange zest and juice, water, parsley, cilantro, olive oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, sweet chili sauce, cumin, and red chili flakes to combine.

3. Transfer the salmon fillets, bell pepper, and onion to the baking sheet and arrange in a single layer (use a second baking sheet if needed). 4. Pour approximately half the prepared marinade over the salmon fillets and bell peppers. Carefully toss the vegetables to coat and flip the salmon over and back to fully coat in the marinade.

5. Transfer sheet(s) to the oven and broil for approximately 10-12 minutes, or until the peppers are just starting to char around the edges and the salmon is fully cooked through. Rotate the pan once during cooking.

6. Remove pan from the oven and serve immediately with remaining marinade.

Time for a little #tbt story time: As some of you may know, I spent 5 of my teenage years growing up on a teeny tiny island in the Middle East called Bahrain. While it certainly had its challenging days, I look back on the experience as one I'm so incredibly grateful to have had. It opened my mind up to a melting pot of cultures, presented a ton of cool travel opportunities (Canada is a long way from the rest of the world!), enabled me to access some of the highest-quality education in the world, and meet a bunch of incredible people. Annnnd..... the FOOD!

Tahini, tabbouleh, shawarmas, fattoush, baba ghanoush, hummus, muhammara, za'atar.... these are just a few of the things I was introduced to back then, and you'll find them in my kitchen and on my plate regularly. Ever since I started posting recipes using za'atar (a super versatile spice + herb mix you can use on everything from flatbreads, veggies and salads to fish and meats) I've received several questions about where to find it. Mine usually comes from Whole Foods, Amazon, and ethnic grocery shops here in Vancouver. Sometimes I make my own, and here's the basic recipe:

2 tbsp dried thyme
2 tbsp dried oregano
2 tablespoons dried sumac (look for it in the spice aisle, usually easier to find than za'atar)
2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
1/4 tsp sea salt
~
Mix it all up, store it in a container and keep it in the fridge for best flavour. Sprinkle it over your savoury dishes to make just about everything taste better!

Time for a little #tbt story time: As some of you may know, I spent 5 of my teenage years growing up on a teeny tiny island in the Middle East called Bahrain. While it certainly had its challenging days, I look back on the experience as one I'm so incredibly grateful to have had. (turkce tarif asagida) hello! this morning’s post-run breakfast was two of these banana bread muffins that are free of grains, dairy and added sugar 🍌 mix 3 mashed ripe bananas, 3 eggs, 1/2 cup almond flour, 1/3 cup coconut flour, 1 tbsp maca powder, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. bake 1/3 cup of walnut pieces in the oven for a few minutes, then add to the mix. pour in muffin molds and bake at 350 F /~ 180 C for about 25 mins, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. store in the refrigerator or freeze for later use. enjoy!!

One of my favorite books is Bronnie Ware’s (@bronnieware) international bestseller The Top Five Regrets of the Dying. Ware was a hospice nurse in Australia for several years and cared for patients in the last few weeks of their lives. She writes with incredible clarity how similar regrets surfaced again and again.
.
Surprise, surprise: There was no mention of insufficient status; undelivered revenge; or sadness over not being the thinnest, prettiest, or most famous. These were the most common regrets. (Numbers one and five could make me weep.)

The 5 Most Common Regrets

1️⃣ I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
.
"This was the most common regret of all," Ware writes. "When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honored even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made."

2️⃣ I wish I hadn't worked so hard.

"All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence."

Meet this week's homemade nut butter creation, whipped up with the intention of helping myself (and you!) chill out, de-stress, and sleep like a baby.
~
The magical lineup: ~
1) Reishi spores: Tiny seeds produced by the reishi mushroom, a potent stress-busting adaptogen)
2) Raw cacao: Triggers the release of feel-happy chemicals in our brains. It's also rich in magnesium which works as a natural sedative.
3) Walnuts: High in melatonin which improves sleep quality, and omega-3 fats which have a calming effect.

No-Stress Cacao Walnut Butter
~
What you need:
~
2 cups raw unsalted walnut halves
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1 tbsp raw cacao powder (I used @navitasorganics)
1/2 tsp @foursigmatic reishi spores
1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of sea salt
1 packet stevia (optional, add at the end if you want it to be sweeter.)
~
What to do:
~
Blitz the nuts and hemp seeds in a food processor until completely smooth. Pause occasionally to scrape down the edges with a spatula. The heat created by friction will help the nuts liquefy.
~
Once smooth, add the remaining ingredients Process again and taste. Adjust sweetness as desired. ~
Transfer the nut butter to a small jar and keep at room temperature for up to 3 weeks.

Bangers N Mash recipe is posted! The best part about this recipe is the gravy. I'm really excited to share this recipe because I wanted a gravy without any type of flour in it whatsoever. Smother anything in this gravy and you'll be licking your plate. Link in profile. I used white sweet potatoes in this recipe, but you can use regular white potatoes if you prefer.

1. Pasta with a meat sauce 
2. Baked potato + steamed veggies 
3. Brinner {breakfast for dinner} 
These meals will probably change in a month because our bodies are constantly demanding new flavors + whole foods 👌🏻
