Sometimes good things have to come to an end. But oh man it’s been a fun week! This weeks last BOGO is an amazing one!

Good Rising BeLOVEDs: Today I would like to share the "FASTING STORY" of one of our PLANT BASED LIVITY INITIATES: By NAKARLA

Greetings beautiful people! 
I've been asked by a few people to do a write up of my fast...so here we go!

Day 1
On this day my energy level went down slowly but surely, luckily I chose days that I didn't have a lot to do. Before and during my fast I was coached by an amazing woman and Healer, BushMama in St Vincent, Caribbean who has completed a 40 day fast...YES 40 days!!! So I thought, 'I must can do 3!' 🙄

I started with a Himalayan salt flush which didn't work for me and I brought it all back up! (Sorry for the imagery there!) Basically you mix 2 teaspoons of the salt in 200ml of water, drink down in one go. Then you drink 3 litres of water minimum, through the day. High alkaline (saka) is the best. This flushes you out. 
Then around lunch I had a veg broth water which is the water from boiled veg of your choice, but you don't eat any of the veg! 😉 My choice was butternut, carrots and coriander, with a touch of Himalayan salt...It was yum!

As the day went on I found my mind becoming clearer and found things I was working on starting to come together and become cohesive. There were times, I felt, of connection to myself, my own spirit, true my physical was somewhat out of the drivers seat. I started feeling the lethargy kick in and had to be very aware about burning unnecessary energy!

I constantly drank plain water, also water with key limes in, to keep headaches and to keep my stomach full. Coconut water is also recommended.

I grew tired earlier than usual, around 7-8pm and fell asleep quickly and soundly without my usual valerian sleep aid. 👍🏾 If you are ready to break your drug food addiction reach out to BushMama! I am qualified and ready to help you! YES I

🌟ADDRESS THE WHOLE🌟

Luckily, we live in times of great technological advancements and discoveries. Medicine has progressed a lot. We know way more about the heart and the brain than we ever did before, new treatments have been created that save lives.

Yet, in some ways, we’ve also taken things a bit far and have placed too much focus on treating single body systems, as opposed to looking at our body as a whole organism.

No system exists in isolation of the rest of body. Systems constantly communicate between one another and adjust accordingly to what’s happening in our internal and external environment.

If the Thyroid gland, aka the Queen of metabolism, is slow, everything in the body becomes slow - digestion, elimination, circulation, hair growth, weight gain etc. The Thyroid needs key nutrients in order to function optimally - zinc, selenium, iron, copper, vit D etc.

Well, guess what? Sluggish thyroid leads to sluggish digestion, thus affecting the optimal absorption and assimilation of these key nutrients from our food into the cells.

Kind of a Catch 22 situation - we need optimally functioning Thyroid for optimal digestion, yet we also need tip top digestion so the Thyroid gets what it needs to work well.

Thyroid function is supper affected by stress, and stress significantly slows down all digestive processes….. The incredible interconnectedness of all systems and processes in the human body.

This is what functional medicine does really well - it honours the unique role of every system, yet it treats our body as a whole, with the aim to always get to the root cause of the issues and bring our body back into balance by supporting the whole.

Functional medicine is an ever growing and emerging field, and the future of medicine alongside traditional allopathic approaches. They both have a place. Traditional medicine is brilliant for acute care and emergency intervention.

As evidence clearly shows, a functional approach to health is the answer to our growing epidemic of chronic imbalances & dis-ease and the key to living healthier, vibrant lives. Mind, body & soul are not separate.💗

Never thought that eating raw foods could be so satisfying. I started eating raw foods years ago, loved it and it got me curious to learn more. At present, a huge part of my diet is raw. I have days I go completely raw. Not intentionally, because I have to. It just feels good and right. Talking about this, reminds me of a documentary I saw years ago. It was about a mother who raised her child on a raw food diet. Many people found it extreme. Some even called it child abuse. Funny thing is, many people don’t find it abusive when “treating” children to the Mac Donalds 5x a week. It’s not my place to pass judgement on what’s “right” or “wrong”. But I do think we can all benefit from the goodness of living foods, regardless of what your food philosophy is. What are your thoughts about this?

Don’t we all need a little more of that?? 🙌🏼 Judgment on ourselves - our bodies, our relationships, our careers, our financial state, our intelligence, our “success”. 😔 We judge ourselves SO HARD, hate ourselves for it, then turn around and judge someone else for the same damn thing. 😳 It’s an endless cycle!! And for some reason, judgment is engrained in us as humans, starting at a young age from our parents, our friends, and media. 👧🏻 So what can we do to erase this negative programming? 
1️⃣ You need to learn how to love yourself. 😍 Be proud of yourself. Cheer yourself on. 🎉 Be easier on your mistakes, learn when you fall, and pick your beautiful self back up because goddesses don’t belong on the ground.✨💎 2️⃣ Love others with an open heart & an open mind. Be ok with your differences. 🤝 Try and empathize with them even when you don’t know what they’re going through. 🤗 Stop your assumptions about things you don’t know. Show compassion because you are too good of a person not to. 💖 
And simply begin to notice when judgment comes up. Once you create a consistent awareness around judging yourself and others, you can fight back and learn to let a little more love in. 👊🏼😘 Lastly, be kind to your neighbor & be kind to yourself. 😜 #latenightrants •

Just another two months or so until my park season ends! In the meantime, there will be plenty of beautiful sunsets to enjoy as I spend my work day out in nature.

I’ve signed up for the September cohort for the health and wellness coach certification course via Wellcoaches, and am looking at completing that and getting my ICHWC cert over the next year. Also, I’ll be taking the CHES exam in October 💕

Time to get my study on!

Over the next year I’ll also be working on constructing a business and/or program plan and getting my ducks in a row so I can officially launch my health coaching business next year (ish). I’m so excited to pave my own path and be my own boss 💕

Until then, time to brush off my resumé and see what employment opportunities come my way as I get myself lined up!

Exciting things are starting to brew 🌿

How To Enjoy Exercise 😀
.
With lots of conflicting information in the fitness industry about the optimal way to train for getting in shape, we very often find ourselves pushing ourselves to do things that we never would before. .
Now, while I believe it's important to step out your comfort zone, I firmly stand for not doing anything you don't want to do. .
If you hate the gym and it makes you feel horrible and anxious every single time you go- Don't.
.
If you hate high impact exercise because your bladder is weak and fear you are going to pee yourself- Don't do those exercises. .
If you hate training more than 60 minutes- Don't do it. .
I want you to read this next line over and over and over until it sticks in your head. .
So long as I am being active on a regular basis with both a combination of cardiovascular, weight bearing and flexibility exercises, I can do whatever activities which will promote this and I enjoy to ensure that I love to exercise and can be consistent with forever more. .
Many people to get in shape assume they need to be at the gym lifting weight and things and while that may be optimal for results solely, I think its more important to be results and lifestyle sustainability. .
So if you enjoy swimming and yoga and hillwalking rather than weight workouts- Do that. .
If you prefer to be in the gym working with weights and then like to do a high impact class once a week, do that. .
If you like to walk 5 miles every day and then go to a little circuit class with friends, do that. .
If it's walking the do most days and then having fun chasing and lifting your kids around the park, do that. .
I hope you see my point that yes some may deliver optimal results quicker but is it lifelong? .
You want to be in a position that you create activity levels you can do and not only because you have to but because you want to and it boosts you as a person. .

This was breakfast which I forgot to upload earlier. Fresh organic sourdough from Bondi Junction village markets on Thursdays which I toasted & smothered in some @willowbrae_chevre_cheese goat cheese ✨& tomato pesto, followed by a couple of poached eggs & all on a bed of spinach. Less that 10 minutes to make & it was perfect post gym (in my stories).

In a happy accident, I made entirely too much mashed potatoes last night, so the leftovers went under some pork chops with mushroom gravy and leftover crispy Brussels sprouts!
Tip on mashed potatoes: if you make a meat beforehand, (I did chicken breasts in the IP) just take the chicken out, use the juices and add a little coconut milk and throw the potatoes right in! Less mess, and I think these were the best mashed potatoes I've ever made. Helped with plenty of butter of course. 😀
