3 MESSAGING MISTAKES I MADE EARLY ON IN MY BUSINESS (so you don’t have to).

It’s always easier to see, write, and plan for someone else’s business. Which explains why I helped other companies earn millions, while making some mistakes with my own messaging.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to share these so you can skip the screw ups and market yourself the *right* way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are 3 things I did wrong for way too long:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. I focused my copy and messaging on a market that couldn’t pay for my services.
I wrote a lot of “how-to” blog posts, ran “how-to” challenges, and otherwise marketed myself to people who were looking to DIY their copy. So, of course, trying to sell done-for-you copywriting services to those people didn’t work out. I should’ve gone for high-level clients right out of the gate.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. I didn’t position myself as a leader and expert.
It felt weird and uncomfortable to act like an expert, even though I knew way more about copywriting and was a much better writer than a lot of entrepreneurs. I should’ve just dealt with the false feeling of being a big, fat phony and stepped into the leadership role much sooner.

3. I blended in, instead of being BOLD.
Why not just mimic all the other copywriters out there? Offer the same shit. Price according to what others do. Because blending in made me a commodity... just another writer in a sea of scribes. If I could do things over, I’d focus on a bolder brand and taking bolder action.

Sunday nights lean and green. Sausage, mushroom and pepperoni pizza! Yep you heard me right. My home made 99% lean turkey sausage, one baby Bella mushroom (sliced), turkey pepperoni, cauliflower crust and reduced fat mozzarella. Great meal and one 9” round pizza is under 500 calories and completely lean and green compliant! Eating healthy and feeling great! Last night one of my friends sent me a text message, because she wanted to tell me how much she admires everything I am doing in my life right now.

Working full-time, in school, starting a business and still somehow having a social life, and she told me what an amazing job I am doing balancing it all.

Getting this text message was so incredibly touching and meaningful.  And my response back was that I would not be able to do any of those things without the amazing, supportive people I have in my life who are also passionate, living their best lives and accomplishing goals.

And although I have a lot going on and not much free time right now I am SO excited and grateful to have the opportunity to create a business focused on what brings me so much happiness. *

BIG NEWS GUYS!! 👏🏼👏🏼 Tomorrow I am starting my certification as a health coach (at IIN! @nutritionschool) & I am super excited!

It’s funny because for a long time I have thought—I love helping other women lead healthier and more balanced lives, but I don’t necessarily want to be a personal trainer. I don’t want to be a dietician. What I want to do really encompasses what it looks like to live an overall healthy lifestyle. And I just couldn’t pin point on what that looked like beyond using this platform and my blog. And recently it dawned on me: Health Coaching 🙇🏼‍♀️

For the last few months, health coaching has been something that I have felt really called to do. I feel like nursing and my personal experience with health & fitness has been a great foundation but I know that adding this certification will really help build an overall better knowledge base for me (especially with food/nutrition!) Meaning I can be more helpful to you guys and talk about more topics confidently 🤗 Some other big changes are coming ahead with this, so stay tuned!!

M O N D A Y • get prepped for breakkie this week with my breakkie-on-the-go ideas . This one is my fave ✨overnight chia oats with fresh berries ✨ make the night before and grab n go the next morning.

ingredients
½ Cup Rolled Oats
3 Tbsp Chia Seeds
Handful Mixed Nuts
1 ¼ Cups Nut Milk
1 Tsp Cinnamon
½ Tsp Vanilla Essence
½ punnet strawberries, sliced (seasonal with @harrisfarmmarkets atm)

instructions:
The night before you eat this pot. Grab a bowl and add oats, chia seeds, mixed nuts, nut milk, cinnamon and vanilla essence. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are mixed.
Add ¼ sliced strawberries to the chia pot mix, stir in.
Scoop chia mix into a jar, top with rest of sliced strawberries. Leave overnight in the fridge
Grab a spoon and tuck in when reached destination

Added a drop of doTERRA Rosemary to help reduce nervous tension and occasional fatigue.  So easy to make and yet very nutritious!

🏽 Anyone else just hanging around? I haven’t tried this in years. My son was convinced if I did this, he’d have to call 911 to save me. It’s not perfect form. Spare me all the logistics. Week ✌🏼 of the #VibeUp wellness challenge with my @boopbod crew is coming to an end and I’m happy to share how much I’m learning to listen to my own body, and that’s been to slooow it down. Instead of running I’ve been getting in a good 45 min walk outside, listening to some of my fave podcasts — It’s honestly so humbling that I don’t feel angst or upset with myself if my workout for the day doesn’t leave me dripping sweat or having burnt 10000 cals.

Holy Cow!

I jumped out of bed feeling INSPIRED and full of Divine ideas to start taking action on now
.
I set an intention to create a program that truly resonates with my soul and made use of all of the knowledge and experience that I already had inside
.
You see, for the past week I’ve had this burning thought in the back of my mind, in the pit of my stomach and in the core of my heart
.
Each day I would notice more and more signs showing up to support this thought through visual cues, conversations I took part in, and chance happening experiences .
So many factors that kept pointing me in one direction; no matter which way I turned
.
Last night, right before I fell asleep, I set my intention and sent it out into the Universe. I told my subconscious mind that I wanted answers now
.
I went to bed with my journal and pen tucked under my pillow so I could document in the event my answers came in my dreams
.
And
.
This morning I woke up and remembered NOTHING 
I lay in bed and proceeded to my start my morning routine which starts with gratitude and deep thought about my intentions for today
.
And then it hit me. I jumped up, grabbed my journal and started writing. The thoughts and words were flowing so quickly and now they just won’t stop
.
The moral of the story is:
.
❤️ Set your intention .
❤️ Speak it and make it known
.
❤️ Be ready to receive .
It may not come at the time you want or in the way you’re expecting but this I can say for sure
.
IT WILL COME!

I had the privilege of hanging with some awesome kids yesterday. The honesty, humor, energy, creativity, and joy for life were off the charts. This campsite was the work of an adorable 5 year old. Balance. That what life’s all about isn’t it? Not necessarily in every meal, every day, every workout, or even every season or year of life. Sometimes we have to put other tasks aside to focus on one goal, one launch, one whatever. But it doesn’t mean we’re out of balance because we will always find our homeostasis again if we listen to our bodies and our minds. There is a balance to everything.
I love my chaotic family more than anything, but I also love my quiet times. I love to meditate, but I also love to go out and have a good time. I love to lift heavy, but I also love to do yoga. I love to do my make up and dress up, but I also love to put on beat up sneaks or hiking shoes and get dirty. 
Right now I’m in the middle of bringing back the old blog, getting a number of certifications and renewing other certifications, preparing for an upcoming launch, working a side job, planning for next year’a homeschool year, trying to spend summer fun with the kids, and rekindling a relationship. It’s a lot but it’s all worth it. Some days feel easy breezy and some days feel like I’m going to lose all my hair. So it’s a little crazy now but in a few weeks or months as things wind down, I’m going to wish I had more projects going on.
• But that’s part of the beautiful balance of it all too. ❤️❤️❤️ • What part of the balancing act is your see-saw currently on? No matter what, just keep riding it because downs will be ups and sometimes ups will be downs. Love the balancing act (or don’t because that will balance out too.) .

I have been feeling a lot of “fuck no’s” lately.

It is a very pronounced feeling. When something isn’t lighting me up and instead feels heavy - My “fuck no” radar goes off the charts. I notice it affect my body, mood and how I socialize.

My intuition tells me pretty quick with a feeling that is hard to describe. Perhaps it’s unique to me.

One thing I know for sure is that when I don’t listen and take action eliminating that which created the “fuck no” - it expands. And it festers.

And I literally get sick, run down and shut down.

A fuck no is when you find yourself feeling lost, stuck, unfulfilled. In relationships, jobs or projects.

There is a time and a place when you can choose to make a circumstance more meaningful - switching a negative thought to positive in order to see light of a situation. How can you make it better? Attitude of gratitude. 
However, there are circumstances that are truly sabotaging and creating more harm than good.

Those, are to be freed. For you, and for those involved.

Are there “fuck no’s” in your life? How long have you let them be there? 
Releasing them regains your power. It tells the universe you are worthy and ready to show up and be in purpose. Because if we live in a relationship or a job that does not encourage us to be US - we play small.

Choose to Play big. Release the shit that is a fuck no and allow that space for purpose and possibilities.

When you do this, it is a service to you, and to those closest to you. 
People notice. And you may notice more respect show up in your life. Respect for yourself, your worth and respect from peers and potential relationships. 
Life is too short to live with “fuck no’s”. Feel it out. Not a solid yes? Get rid of it.

vacation is offfiiiccciallly over. i took a break from social media yesterday bc we were driving back from florida but also bc i wanted to soak up the last day with my parents for a bit. it’s a bummer but also i am so excited to get back to the fort and do my thang. gotta go pack up my apartment!!! Well somebody found my eye brow pencil... he loves to tattoo and draw on himself so I guess he knew exactly what to do? I'm confused because he's never seen me do my eyebrows and when I do its hardly much that I add lol

All you guys are WONDERFUL about drinking your water, BUT if for some reason you go...OMG I can't stomach another glass of water, load up on these veggies and fruits that contain over 90% water.  Essentially eat some of your water!

This Sunday long run completes week 3 of marathon training! 15 weeks till race day. Consistency is paying off. I was able to stay on my long run pace easily the entire run!
It felt amazing to be up with the sunrise, getting my long run in before the heat wave!

I have totally lost track of how many days I've been on the road... • 
Got to Biloxi and had a wonderful night out last night with the girls! Huge non scale victory for me. I borrowed the dress I wore out from my amazing friend @kmemmci which may not sound like a big deal to some but a huge accomplishment for me. I haven't been able to borrow or share clothes with friends in probably 10 years or more because I was so much heavier than everyone else. To give you an idea a year ago we both ordered formal dresses (which are sized crazy big) mine was a 24, hers was a 12.... can't wait for today's adventures! What adventure do you have planned for your Sunday?

@jake_cohen2 and I rode to @thefixstudio yesterday as it was their grand opening for the coffee. Shop they had just opened. Bikes and coffee on sunny Saturday afternoon = 👍🏻👍🏻. .

Honestly, I had sworn off endurance sports for many years as that was a huge contributor to my hormonal imbalance and lack of a period. I would ride too far and not eat enough as a way to achieve my “perfect” body. And in doing so, I trashed my body. .
.
.
Now I know my limits. And now I can ride just to have fun. To enjoy time with my husband. To enjoy a summer day. And you can bet I’m not going on a 40 mike bike ride unless there is some kind of food/treat/destination involved! .
.
.
I probably did overdo it yesterday. And I am listening to my body for what it needs for recovery today. I also listened to my body DURING the ride and ate more when I needed to eat more. Went slower when I needed to. And when Jake went and ran more when we got home, I didn’t feel the need to be competitive and do as much exercise as he was doing just to keep up athletically or with my physique. .

It has been fun to return to some of the things I used to enjoy without feeling the anxiety around it that I used to feel. New mindset, new enjoyment. .

How did I not think of this before??? Woke up on this lovely #sunday craving pancakes (thanks @hannahbenitez1!). And while I had the ingredients for Pumpkin Paleo Pancakes, the thought hit me...can’t I just use my @wildwayoflife cinnamon paleo hot cereal mix on the griddle?? Turns out you CAN!! #boom - #cinnamon #paleo #pancakes for #breakfast. I love how simple and clean they are, and now I can make them even #faster!
