That’s the thing of it…. Every food stuff can be medicine or poison, depending on the person or situation. The fresh raspberries which I scarf by the pint would make a person with a histamine intolerance absolutely miserable.  While I heartily recommend brassicas to clients in need of detox or liver support, I would never suggest them to a client with SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth). 💖
No individual food item is ‘good’ or ‘bad’. These are arbitrary labels rooted in our limited human perspectives of shame and perfection. Rather than following some arbitrary eating plan you found on the internet, tune in to your own body’s signals, then proudly eat what works best for you! Dinner tonight, @merchantgourmet Freekeh, with roasted butternut squash, red onion, pomegranate molasses, mint, parsley, fresh pomegranate and crushed pistachios. Topped with Dukkah crusted chicken breast. First time trying Freekeh and Dukka (a blend of spices and crushed chickpeas and seeds... I got this from @tescofood ), really enjoyed these flavours. Inspired by a recipe in the new @weightwatchersuk Flavours cookbook, but using chicken breast instead of thighs meaning I had smartpoints for Freekeh. 8sp total.

How to deal when the fear/frustration/overwhelm takes over:
.
This one has come up with every. single. one. of my private coaching clients over the past month. They are making progress on their habits, working on their mindset, and feeling really positive about all the changes they’ve made. And then, for whatever reason, they hit a wall.
.
They feel like they should be further along.
.
They feel like they aren’t doing enough, but don’t know what else to be doing.
.
They feel totally overwhelmed with the fear that they will never get where they want to be, no matter what they do.
.
This feeling is absolutely suffocating. It’s isolating and makes you feel totally defeated. And I remember it well from when I lived in constant food stress. So how do you deal?
.
1 - Get distracted: Those fear based thoughts aren’t serving you, and you need to get out of your head. Watch a funny video. Call a friend and talk about something unrelated. Go to a movie. Read a book or listen to a podcast on something totally unrelated to health and food. Get outside and do something fun.
.
2 - Get clarity: Once you are out of the intense emotion of that fear spiral and you can come back to those thoughts feeling calmer, journal it out. What old beliefs and stories are triggering that cascade of emotions? Do those thoughts need to be true? How can you reframe them? Need some guidance on how to do this? 3 - Shift your focus: instead of dwelling on where you don’t want to be, focus on what you DO want. Tap into the emotion behind your goals. What is the feeling you are after?Confidence? Freedom? Safety? Joy? Feel into that and stay in that space, and if the fear thoughts are creeping in, remind yourself that you get to decide how you feel in this moment, and tap back into those feelings around your goals. If this feels really difficult, just shift to focusing on a feeling of gratitude.

Trust that you are supported. You may be having a bad moment or a bad day or a bad month, but none of that changes the fact that you are already enough. You will get wherever you need to go. You got this 💕

My first attempt at a taco bowl 😍 worked beautifully and I filled it with my favourite beef fajita mix topped with sour cream and coriander 😍 had a busy day out with baby so it was nice to knock up something quick and easy when I got home 👏🏻

We made this meal the other night in my friends apartment. So easy everyone was involved, and we all got to sit down and enjoy it. *moment of silence & a single tear*⠀

Here’s what we ate⠀
⚡️honey, lime, cilantro chicken breast⠀
⚡️roasted broccoli⠀
⚡️roasted bell peppers ⠀
⚡️roasted rainbow carrots⠀

More recently, I’ve been focusing on not making me the star of the show when it comes to all meals. Instead, making it a side with the main deal being veggies. It’s so easy to roast veggies in the oven and to load up on those NUTRIENTS. ⠀

All of these veggies were roasted with olive oil, salt & pepper at 350 for 15-20 mins. Chicken was cooked in a honey, lime, olive oil, garlic, and cilantro marinade on the stove. We boiled the farro and that was all it took. Obsessed with easy, healthy meals like this. ⠀

Albacore and Avocado Sandwich on Dark Rye, with Homemade Pickles 🥑🥒 I think it is time to make some more! ❤️ ⭐️Zesty Garlic Dills
1 1/2 c vinegar
1/4c sugar
2 Tbsp kosher salt 
1/2 tsp yellow mustard seeds
1/2 tsp black mustard seeds
1/4 tsp ground coriander 
1 tsp dill seed
1/4 tsp turmeric 
1/4 tsp cracked red pepper
2 c water
Combine all of these ingredients together in a medium size sauce pan. Bring just to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
4 lg cloves garlic, roughly chopped
3/4 oz fresh dill, roughly chopped
1 English cucumber, 1/4 inch slices
Mix all ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Pack tightly into a quart size glass jar with lid. Pour brine over the cucumbers until the jar is full. Discard any leftover brine. Cover tightly with lid and refrigerate 24-48 hours. Delicious! This was my first time making tempeh and I have to say it turned out so yummy! I simply just sautéed it in coconut aminos until brown! I got this non-gmo tempeh from Trader Joe’s 🙏🏼😊in this bowl I also added quinoa, cucumber, tomato, and the best dressing. Just mix dijon mustard, a lil maple syrup, tahini and the juice from 1 lemon! How do you guys deal with staying in shape while traveling?I’ve been out of commission for about 3 months now - turns out traveling leaves little time for formal work outs let alone instagramming them. 
Before I left a good friend of mine who has been traveling around Eastern Asia for more than a year now, told me that the biggest thing to remember is to go easy on yourself. “You are constantly changing locations, climates even time zones,” she said - “your body reacts. You might feel tired, not have time for he gym, get sick, not feel yourself. Remember that this is normal!” I took her words to heart and put very little pressure on myself to stick to my formal work out routine (though I love #bbg). Instead, I worked out when I could, and took every opportunity to hike, climb, swim and adventure... including this 4 day trek to Ciudad de Perdida! 
Now that I have a bit of free time, I want to get back to a more formal work out routine, but I don’t regret it! How do you guys find time to say fit while traveling?

Currently suffering with a nasty virus that is really affecting my digestive system... I’m walking around looking about 6 months pregnant and feeling blergh 😪 So, here’s one of the recipes that I always go back to when I’m sick. @hemsleyhemsley ‘s Butternut squash and red lentil curry. This smoothie bowl has apple, banana, spinach, and cauliflower. Threw in some @drjoshaxe multi collagen and spirulina. I also always mix some @bobsredmill wheat bran in my smoothies just to get that fiber in ;) .

Rice cakes, simple & light. Can be used as a perfect base for a snack or breakfast.  These are my go to everytime I need a snack,  they are gluten free & light on the tummy. Makes for a lovely healthy snack & these particular rice cakes by Urban Platter @urbanplatter.in are made with quinoa as well for that extra protein:) _

All you need are the toppings. 
I’ve spread some peanut butter & topped with sliced banana & hemp seeds. You could also top with toasted sesame seeds.

The second topping is a savory one.. the spread is a homemade green chutney of coriander & coconut. Topped with tomatoes, cucumber, onion, seasoned well with salt & pepper & garnished with fresh coriander.

Healthy, fresh & guilt free. If you are looking at losing weight or just improving your health in general it’s little home made, whole food treats like these that make a difference.
