"I’m upset at myself with the final product of this one. I should’ve took more time to get the clarity of the vocals right and put more thought into the way I delivered the last four bars of my verse. (no one on this Earth is a harder critic than me) besides the point. Art isn’t perfect 🤷🏾♂️ as long as the listener gets the idea of the message I’m trying to convey.
Anyways I wrote this the week of the shooting at Stoneman Douglas. It hit home and it was more than disturbing at how shootings were becoming a normal incident in this county. I didn’t wanna make a track specifically saying “Control the guns.” Thats redundant to what everyone else was already saying and I didnt want something too polarizing between dems and republicans. Similar to when there’s weeds in your garden, you don’t pull it by the top. You grab them from the roots to assure that it won’t grow back. I wanted to address what I believe is the root of the gun control issue. Pardon the pessimist in me, but this country was founded off trickery, slaves, and mass murder. Weapons obviously played an essential role in that. The concept of banning some of those guns is like taking away the foundation of this country (to some people. Also...ehhh this is getting lengthy again. Just read my lyrics it’s self-explanatory (scroll/ lyrics also on ALL streaming)" - 20 days ago
