After years of living with Fledge, I consider myself an expert in Zebra Dove Behavior.
Fluffy (like pictured), means they are comfortable, feel safe, and are relaxed.
Extra fluffy, with head feathers fluffed into a Mohawk, means they feel extra safe and comfortable.
Feathers slicked down and neck extended, means they are on high alert and do not feel safe (strange noise, see a cat through the window, or a strange person comes into the room, who they do not recognize).
Loud singing in the morning-ritual.
Stamping one foot, bending down repeatedly, and making a gurgling/cooing noise- male mating call to female.
Sitting on eggs in nest- instinctual, and they get into a weird, trance like state. Nothing can distract them, or make them get up off of those eggs, not even running the vacuum cleaner, distractions, or other disturbances.
