4 years ago today, a infantry unit that was sent to handle something MSG couldn’t, caught a fucking 155mm arty round that dropped less than 200m from the embassy and made each and everyone of us pee a little bit. Words can't express how lucky we are. I sometimes feel that I died in Afghanistan or in Libya but life goes on. The stars aligned and we all made it out.
I'm thankful everyday I wake knowing that I had men like you goons by my side. Fear was never in my mind at those moments where we shouldn't have survived. mortars, artillery, small arms in the compound, rockets, recoiless 105m overhead, AA rounds 20m off the ground blowing up above our heads.
None of our families will ever understand what we did. How we felt. Why we did it. You motherfuckers are my brothers. War makes a boy into a man. Not a day goes by where I don't think of you guys. Just remember that. The nights I struggle with who I am or why I am, I think of you hittas and pull back. I don’t why the artillery rounds that hit 50m never went off. Perhaps shitty old weapon system or something more.
Crack a cold one, brothers! SATURDAYS ARE FOR THE BOYS!! #saturdaysarefortheboys #Saturdays #USMC #Marines #USembassy #infantry #grunts #combat
