According to UNICEF, open defecation remains a big challenge as only three out of the 774 LGAs in Nigeria are open defecation free. They also found that over 88% cases of diarrhea in Nigerian Children are traceable to open defecation. Open defecation is perilous as contact with human faeces can cause diseases such as Cholera, Typhoid, Worm Infestation, Hepatitis and Under nutrition.
