I’m all for being open about struggle because you never know who is reading. If you swipe left —> that was me a year ago, during a birthday party, where I thought I looked somewhat happy. It’s actually a hard picture to look back on. I was unhealthy, unhappy, and depressed. I also wasn’t very open about what I was going through because I thought it was my mess to clean, and I didn’t know where to start.
If you are reading this, I hope you know the power of a single day. I hope you know the power of your own voice, and your strength. I cannot express enough the importance of mental health and taking care of yourself, and reaching out if you need help. It gets better. You ARE strong. Just keep going. Help is all around, and so many are happy to lend a hand, offer services or advice.
While living as the girl on the right, I didn’t remember what it was like to be the one on the left. It takes a lot of big things, or a million small things, to happen every day that add up. You are more than your circumstances.
Please don’t give up, don’t stop, and don’t hesitate to reach out. The road to self-love and acceptance is bumpy, but worth it, and such a freeing feeling. You are another day closer.
