The most I've pulled from the floor is 515. My best raw meet pull is 530 sumo.

Given I moved two houses, went on vacation, had my gear get altered twice, my bench shirt blow out, and trained like 2-3x a week before the meet all 6 weeks before the meet, I’m Very happy with how things went at regionals. Got 1st place for equipped 105 class (805 @ 103.5) and the highest Wilks of the whole meet. Forgive the deadlift picture post, but it’s almost impossible to make my noodle arms look large but the lighting at Mohegan did the trick #TeamCTI #CooperTrainingInstitute #coopertraining. Big shout out to @coachzcooper for everything this weekend, also @cgiamps and @aislinn.mairead for everything you guys did, and my lovely lady @joannabercume for always being in my corner to cheer me on (@adriennegiampa too). Excited to get Into the offseason and actually have an uninterrupted prep for my next comp!

Program called for a top triple but my piriformis has been acting up. So I played it safe and worked up to a top single.

Max effort lower this week was done solo in the garage early this morning due to a busy day ahead... 1" deficit deadlift for a 40lb pr of 585lbs, tore a callous so I shut it down and put on the straps for volume work.

Had to do my squats and presses outside today because the gym was full and I didn't feel like waiting 30 minutes for a rack. Hot as hell but what are you gonna do, not train? Then, not surprisingly, I go back in and the racks are empty but all the flat benches are full... I like benching out of a rack anyways!

Comp squat for 5 @ 8 with 335, added 10 lbs to last week's top set of fahhhve.

Press for 5 @ 9 with 150, I did bounce catch the 4th rep but did well on all other reps to control the negatives as instructed.

Close-grip bench for 8 @ 8 with 205. Felt absolutely tanked by this point so adding 10 lbs to last week's weight made me jump for joy lol!

Now to deload and take all this training in. Gym atmosphere was sick at the house of gains @elitegymnj. And thanks to @jay.solano and @dedicatedarmy for the edit. Weakness training for mah skwaat 😤 Pin squats feeling really good and I feel the volume making a big difference but I definitely need a deload weak. 315 lbs. for 6, 345 lbs. for 4, 365 lbs. for 3, 385 lbs. for 3 and 275 lbs. for 8 double pause reps. In the 2nd part of my recovery series, I talk about the things I do on a daily basis to mitigate fatigue from training. These activities also keep me fresh and relaxed to tackle a long day at work.

Sleep – The most important activity for every athlete is a good night’s sleep, in particular REM sleep. Sleep repairs tissues and muscles and releases essential hormones in the body needed for recovery. I am very fortunate that my body is able to have an 8 hour UNINTERRUPTED sleep every night as I never have to wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Tips to induce a restful sleep is to eliminate smartphone usage close to bedtime and have a structured sleeping schedule everyday.

Cold Showers – The key takeaway from this is improved blood circulation and speeds up reduction of muscle soreness. Cold showers encourages blood to surround our vital organs (such as the heart) and new oxygenated blood is ciculated around the body upon stepping out of the shower. I have never switched on the heater for over 2 years and I start and end the day with a cold shower. It will take time to get used to the cold water especially in the morning, but your body will adapt to it and you will start to see the wonders of taking cold showers.

Stretching and foam rolling – A daily 20 minute routine of mine, starting off with foam rolling the major areas (back, hamstrings, hips, glutes and quads) followed by stretching the same areas. Both activities reduce muscle soreness tremendously and it relieves tight areas especially when we are all sitting most of the time at work. I stretch and foam roll at night before bed while watching Netflix or listening to a podcast to make it less boring.

And there you have it, simple things you can do to speed up recovery. If you noticed, I do not follow any fancy recovery methods – all these can be added in your daily routine with no extra cost!

Lol for not lifting for the longest time due to medical reasons, school, and handling more obligations, we are back baby. I tried to find peace with running and other “low intensity” exercises, but the iron will always be my bread and butter. I had fun, met some great people, and learned a lot today at this meet. I can't thank John enough for taking the time to travel out here to handle me. He's the reason I didn't just continuously inhale sour patch kids between attempts without bolusing for them, as well as doing everything for me so that I only had to focus on picking the weight up and putting it down.

@cody_t1d had a MONSTER day. We came in with a plan and he executed to a T.  Finishing 8/9 only missing his first squat because of depth and hitting 644(PR)/352/656(PR) for a 1652 lifetime PR total and 1st place in the 110kg Open division! .

Working with him to this point has been a blast and we have both learned quite a bit from each other (I'm playing with wraps now.) Looking forward to even more progress and knocking down that 1700 barrier soon.

Felt solid today!

Had a brain fart and forgot to switch my block pulls to conventional last week, fixed it today so no biggie. 420x4 @ 9 off of low blocks.

Floor press went way better than I expected, I was feeling pretty thrashed from the increase in volume but still put up a decent top set. 235x4 @ 8.5 (target was @ 9). Sometimes you just gotta step up and push on through. I could have put this session off because I was sore but your body is not always telling the whole truth. You have to grow and learn what the signs are that you really are not well recovered at all, typical soreness can trick you and is not always a "telltale" sign.

Front squats from Wednesday’s workout. #bowenmethod @mattybow83 had the choice to work up to 315lbs @9-10 RPE so of coarse I went for it 💪🏻 Hit it for 2 reps so that’s a PR! @9.5 is what it felt like cuz was having a lil trouble keeping it from rolling but got er done!

I've always preferred to make my back days consist of as much calisthenics ad possible. Outside of deadlifts and rows I've always felt that pull ups and other more advanced had the most overall strength compared to sticking strictly with machine exercises

Today was a good day because I got to train with @katiefeeleystrength and I don’t just mean we were working out at the same time, but I mean we literally shared a platform and the bar together ❤️ (!!!)

She nearly finished all of her deadlifts by the time I was done warming up, but it was so worth it. Not only did we have fun together (or at least I had fun), but she probably added 10-20lb on my deadlift from giving me literally one cue.

In fact, her help was so effective that it kinda messed up the rest of my workout because the sets ended up being TOO EASY and I did more volume than I was anticipating. This just means I’m going to hit a PR next week 😈

Mfw can bench four plates but struggles to incline press anything over two, which highlights a very obvious weakness! Incline bench @ 105kg for a few sets of 6, followed by some paused deads @ 165kg. Felt a bit of a twinge in my hip before training, so decided to be a little cautious with these! Still working on improving technique, still hate sumo, still have more sass than I do ass 🐍 -
