Happy Sunday lovely Meno's! I hope you are having a great weekend?๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ I have been reflecting on my week and it has been a busy one, however I really feel I am making progress, ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช I am looking forward to sharing with you new content to help you manage your menopause through movement, easy to follow stuff you can do at home. ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๐Ÿ˜˜ You know I nag you lots about moving to help your heart, ๐Ÿ’˜ bones and mental health, but painful joints and aching muscles are no joke especially when you are feeling tired ๐Ÿ˜ด and a little ๐Ÿ˜ฉ bonkers. Happy Saturday all! Being menopausal one must look at a lot of things to keep sane and happy; I have exercised moderately this week, ate well and managed to meet lots of deadlines, so all good, but realised I have not had much time to chill, so I am going to ease into the day slowly. Self-care isnโ€™t all about spa breaks, I wish, or going out to a yoga class, sometimes meditation can come in the form of just being still and not listening to your husband or any other family member asking you โ€œwhere is โ€ฆ.โ€ And not to feel guilty! If I had a ยฃ for every time Greg asks me where he has put his keys, phone, certain T shirt, shorts, belt.. . I would be a very rich woman, I did not ignore him, even though he says I am (apparently, he says, this photo is proof of neglect!) I am choosing to turn my attention on looking at new avocado recipes and switching off from the outside (and inside) world!  Sorry Greg looks like you are on your own for the hunt for you lost shorts! #avocado #selfcare #meditation #worklifebalance

Lets talk back pain and #sciatica a request from one of our #teammeno's @mykenthomeandaway before you stretch make sure your muscles are warm, walking around or simple squats will do it, this along with the cat stretch will help however, what is really important is to strethengthen the muscle around the joint therefore  giving the joint better structure so therefore will not pinch the disc which is hitting the nerve which is causing he pain. So strengthening will treat the cause and stretching will help the symptom. There is a great exercise on the site which is totally safe and really great at strethening the lower back and core which you can do on a chair. Please do look in the link above where I am demonstrating this, it is also good for your bones as well Meno.

This is one of my favourite stretches.  It is great for posture,  it opens up the chest and is great to do first thing in the morning and throughout the day.  Take one leg forward push hips and chest forward hold for 15 seconds and swap legs and repeat. You can  vary the height of your arms depending on how you feel and where you feel is the most tight. Painful joints during menopause can be helped by daily stretching. Just make sure those muscles are warm first.  #painfuljoints

Good morning Menoโ€™s! #Meditation ๐Ÿ™ in some form should really be practiced during menopause.  Our list of things to do to keep happy and healthy should include becoming breathless ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ for our heart๐Ÿ’– and mental health, resistance training to help to prevent #osteoporosis, stretching to help with painful joints and movement, but letโ€™s not forget our poor minds๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง  and #adrenal glands.  All the above really help me maintain sanity on a daily basis,๐Ÿ˜ฑ however we really need to practice some type of being โ€œstillโ€. You know that I am not one to site cross legs and chanting, but it is good to take some time out.  Find something that lets you switch off and adopt a positive mindset. In the mornings I try and listen to different Aps from @abrahamhickspublications I rotate what I listen to depending on how I am feeling and what is going on around me.๐Ÿคช I am going through a bit of a transition lately and have lots of work that I am doing which is out of my comfort zone BUT it is a journey to something, hopefully, fabulous, which, hopefully, will help more Menoโ€™s so my morning meditation is โ€œrampage of invincibilityโ€๐Ÿ’ช Visit www.menoandme.com today to subscribe on our #newsletter and for more info and contacts! I do not know why this is called the superman, I ALWAYS have called this the superwoman, ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ’ชobviously! This is great one to start to strengthen the spine and core, when you are holding this position hold for 6 seconds and keep the tummy in really tight, slowly lower the hand and knee to the floor and when they both contact the floor then relax the tummy. The re-fix the tummy and do the same the other side, repeat this 24 times (12 on each side) O BTW notice my stretchy jeans? Also if you have a healthier strong muscle it will burn fat at rest. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช So therefore helping beat the menopause #bellyfat Do not worry if you cannot do this full plank, start off on your knees, put a pillow or towel under the knees if they are painful  pull your tummy into your spine and keep breathing! Hold for as long as you can, even if you start at 5 or 10 seconds, we all have to start somewhere! Start today!! The Lancet has just released a study on the benefits of exercise on #mentalhealth๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง  โ€œPhysical activity can help play a role in preventing mental health problems and improve the quality of life of those experiencing it. For example, there is an approximately 20โ€“30% lower risk for depression and dementia, for adults participating in daily physical activityโ€ (excerpt from Department of Health PA, Health Improvement and Protection, (2011). Start Active, Stay Active: A report on physical activity from the four home countriesโ€™ Chief Medical Officers. London: Department of Health). The study that we were discussing was a USA based study of over of 1.2 million people and found that people who exercise report having 1.5 fewer days of poor mental health a month, compared to people who do not exercise. Ok back to a nag today! Stretching is one of the major components of fitness and is it massively overlooked. However, during menopause stretching can help with painful joints, this helps my lower back and hips,  I do this every day,  so do not expect you to be able to go as low.. Remember we all have to start somewhere. Make sure you are warm before stretching.  Why painful joints during menopause? It is because of the decrease in oestrogen. Deep joy! There is a page page on our site where I demonstrate how to do some simple stretching from a chair! However, during menopause stretching can help with painful joints, this helps my lower back and hips,  I do this every day,  so do not expect you to be able to go as low.. #Cellulite! Yes, beauty certainly does come from within and I can tell from my left arm if my diet has not been great as I get cellulite on it!  I have had my studio for 12 years, we were originally a dedicated #powerplate studio. We had 4 plates and run classes, what fun! Now I have a private 1-2-1 studio and would never be without this amazing piece of kit.  When we did our classes, we would always do a seated cellulite massage at the end, I now use it with myself and my other Meno girls on front of thigh and arms! This on its own its not magic wand but it is 1 of many things that can help with skin tone as we get older. #dryskinbrushing before a shower is great โ€“ from the feet in upward strokes and towards the heart. Do this for around 3-4 minutes then, easy this weather, finish off with a cold shower. Along with cutting back on coffee, booze and not eating rubbish this will help with skin tone. I know from personal and 25 yearโ€™s professional experience! One third of your body's toxins are excreted through the skin and dry brushing helps to unclog pores and excrete toxins that become trapped in the skin. It will also bring oxygenated blood to the area which will also help with skin tone. Use a natural (not synthetic) bristle brush with a long handle so can reach all areas of your body. Happy Tuesday Menoโ€™s! Weight training will not only help your bones, it will help your mental health too! If you follow me on Insta story (circle above ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ‘† ) you know that if I do not exercise I feel rather bonkers!!๐Ÿคช Heart health,๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’– bone health and mental health ๐Ÿง  are all compromised during menopause and letโ€™s not forget the weight gain. If you have a stronger healthier toned muscle it will burn fat at rest โ€“ perfect!! So therefore, helping keep the belly fat at bay.  I am doing this adapted bicep curl on a decline bench because of my bicep tendon operation last year, I am determined to be proud of my arms again! After 6 years I am happy to be weight training again and really feeling the benefit, I forgot how good you can feel. Happy Monday Menoโ€™s! I had a great weekend, how about you? I tried #paddleboarding for the very first time on Saturday, great fun! I wrote a blog on how to lose weight during menopause I did not include this! Ok, one will not burn many calories standing, even though it is great for core, stability and general feel good; where you burn the calories is getting back on! As I was a virgin paddleboarder I did fall in the first time I attempted to stand and most times when a boat passed because of the wake! There was a group of us and we had lots of laughs! I am so happy to be doing this, 6 years ago when I was #perimenopausal and recovering from my first shoulder operation and car accident I was in bad shape, but I was determined to get back to some type of fitness to be able to enjoy life again.  It has not been an easy journey but look at me now! Menopause can kick us in the teeth but if you want to life a full and happy life then it is possible. Headโ€™s up on #testosterone gel ladies #HRT โ€“๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ if you are lucky enough to have been prescribed some. I heard on the grapevine that ladies have been having trouble getting it.๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ So, I emailed Dr Newson for my repeat prescription mentioning this her response; โ€œBoth the sachets and the tubes of testosterone gel have been discontinued which is a real shame. I am now prescribing AndroFeme which is a cream that is licensed for women in Western Australia. It is very easy to use and costs around ยฃ1 a day so it is more expensive which is a shame.โ€ And asked if I wanted the private prescription as my GP will not prescribe the gel, of course I said yes!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ As testosterone has made a massive difference to my energy, concentration and libido!  My NHS GP is happy to prescribe my oestrogen patch and progesterone tablet, but not this.  My sisterโ€™s pharmacist came up with a good idea:๐Ÿ˜‡ As they only come in high mg larger sachets and will go off โ€“ he gave her the larger sachet and a syringe that she uses to apply! She says it is a bit of a faf but at least she still gets it. #oestrogen

A really easy #yoga pose to help with your menopausal symptoms is lying on the floor, or the bed, with your bottom against the wall with your feet up and legs supported is great for calming down our adrenal glands, nervous system and generally to feel "grounded" and "calm". I have had lots of work and deadlines recently, so need to stay on top of it.  As you know from my stories ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ‘† I have been trying really hard to keep on top of my exercise as it helps keep me from spinning out of control. However as part of our #exerciseformenopause routine, we need to factor in staying calm. So off you go, legs up on the wall Meno's ... A little nag today I think. Did you know that we are at higher risk of heart disease when we hit menopause? ๐Ÿ’˜ ๐Ÿ’– #HRT does decrease our risk factors, If you do take HRT you still need to exercise to become breathless. If you do not take it, then it is even more important to,  please you need to do some type of physical activity each week to become breathless.  30/40 minutes 3/4 times per week is the requirements. Don't panic ๐Ÿ˜ฑ you can break those down into smaller segments. Have a look at my blog on exercise for the heart on my website under "blog" link above Meno's. ๐Ÿ‘† O yes and if you become breathless it will also help with anxiety, brain fog and generally feeling happier. Firstly sorry, if I knew how to โ€œfilter I wouldโ€ โ€ฆ But had to share this with you.  This was me  after my swim  at the end of a  very hot long day, Monday, after being in front of the laptop. I did post on my story on Monday, I do try and share ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ‘† Anyway my point is, yes, my body isnโ€™t as fast or as streamlined as it used to be, due to life, surgery and ageing,๐Ÿคธโ€โ™€ but I have accepted that I am not going to be that toned young thing in the matching speedo costume and googles doing front crawl in the fast lane. ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚ ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚ But that is ok.  There was a chap in our lane in his 80โ€™s next to me who was gently walking and moving his arms around lots and another guy in his 70โ€™s walking up and down. I hope and pray ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ that I can be like them at their age, active and happy, as we did have a laugh, ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿคฃ I am now at the age that one can โ€œtalkโ€ to people, the younger generation think I am bat bonkers ๐Ÿค“ ๐Ÿคฅ and the older generation are just happy to talk. ๐Ÿ˜ This weather one must look at alternative ways to keep sane and move. Even if you walk up and down the pool you are keeping cool but burning calories and releasing those feel-good receptors in your brain. So, try going out for a walk early or late when it is cooler, as sleep is kind of out of the window now!? How about you?  Re the eye candy in the fast lanes โ€“ of course I did it โ€œcovertlyโ€ and of course Greg is my Adonis and love to look at him more than anyone else.  The only reason I was looking was from a professional point of view; ๐Ÿคญ ๐Ÿค” to see if I could guess what other type of exercise they do, if any, on top of swimming  ie how many times they lift weights, or do they run as well... Itโ€™s all in a dayโ€™s work Menoโ€™s.๐Ÿ˜˜โ €

Today I had to give myself another good talking to. ๐Ÿ˜คI nearly swerved doing my weights, but tomorrow I won't have time to do any proper exercise. Once I had finished I felt so much better and a little smug! ๐Ÿ˜‡ ๐Ÿ˜‡ ๐Ÿ˜ Last night I went swimming as it was so hot that by the end of the day, which I had spent mostly in front of the laptop, I thought my head would explode, plus I had not moved! Did you see my video post from last week?! I have to just get on with it, as those scales were creeping up! ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ‘† see my story. Yes it is harder in this weather which is why I have been swimming twice in the last 3 days. But I wanted to post this as evidence, plus if you can just see at the top of my arms I am starting to get a little "curve" from doing my shoulder exercises. I do want my "Hollywood arms" back and I will do everything I can! My arm workouts have been, biceps, triceps and 3 shoulder exercises as one needs the shoulder muscles defined to help define the top of the biceps and triceps. Yes I workout to keep my #menopausal body and brain sane๐Ÿง  but I have decided, that now I have recovered from all of my surgeries and injuries (touching wood here) that I want to see how far I can go with my training, pain allowing of course. Lately as you know, from my video last week, joking about my weight, ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ• I have realised that I have not been exercising as much ๐Ÿ‹โ€โ™€ and my food has not been as good,๐Ÿฆ even the thought of walking down the road to my local gym in this heat has been too much!๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒถ So, I have given myself a kick up the backside! ๐Ÿ‘ŸTo be honest feeling good over looking good is more important to me, thank you @womeninsport_uk for your recent study that highlights this!  I have had a lot of stress to deal with recently, good stress as well as bad, as most of us have. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ One really does need to keep all those plates spinning, but if exercise is the plate to drop then they all drop. I have also been thinking about my time, have I had time? Yes! The time I have spent lying on my sofa feeling sorry for myself could have been put to good use, yes,  I have been tired, ๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ’ค but I would have been tired anyway, so I might as well get moving to feel good, Just because of my job it doesnโ€™t mean to say I am exempt from slipping into bad habits! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ, having been through a horrible menopause I am aware of my triggers, so I stop, think and really look at my work life balance.  This was me yesterday after a very hot spin class, followed by some free weights.  Saturday, I went swimming; today I have been up since 6am and have got lots of work done. ๐Ÿ˜‡ A result of getting up of the sofa and stop feeling sorry for myself I am feeling in control and a lot happier. I could blame my hormones and age, I could blame lots of things for my expanding waist line, I could also blame the sunshine, my birthday ๐ŸŽ‚and the fact that how fabulous it is to sit outside with friends and family having a good old natter over some chilled vino๐Ÿท and food. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ˜‹ No, it is entirely my own fault. For me my left arm and tummy are my markers, if my left arm, post 2 surgeries, starts to show cellulite and my tummy hangs over my leggings, then, I know it is time to STOP or rather slow down!! Yes, it has been hot, I have defiantly exercised but not as much as I should in relation to my food intake!๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿข๐Ÿข I have my own studio and my local gym is at the end of the road! So for a few weeks, I shall be keeping myself in check and cutting out those โ€œextraโ€™s.โ€ ๐Ÿฅ–๐ŸฅžJust as small steps over time can make a big, positive impact on your health, lots of small โ€œtreatsโ€  can have a detrimental impact on your waste line and heath over time๐Ÿ–. Remember what goes on inside; if I do not get breathless every week and eat more, then it will affect my heart health, cholesterol and mental health. Everything in moderation and balance is key; Is it harder to #beatthebellyfat during menopause ? Yes. Can it be doneโ€ฆYes. Be realistic and honest ladies. I thought I would post this as normally I am nagging you from my studio sitting on the bike or walking here,  there or up stairs!  But I took this on Saturday evening at my friends 50th!  Well,  I thought,  why not? there were others doing it, in these very posh loo's mind you they were in their 20's! But,  it's not often that I don't look disheveled and I feel good as I been training regularly again.  Did I mention that if you exercise during menopause that it helps with symptoms!? ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ˜œ.. Obviously taking good supplements and eating well helps.  A few years ago there is no way I would be out in town on a Saturday night my menopause related fatigue and mental health just wouldn't allow it. Last night I posted this poll on my Insta story ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ‘† (circle's above) and asked should I stay at home and have a chilled glass of wine or go to the gym! What are you lot like!? O ye of little faith!! Yes I did go to the gym..check out my story if you don't believe me! I have started to feel so much better recently and want to keep it  up, this week has been super busy and my promise to myself was to train my arms 3 times this week. Last night was my 3rd time๐Ÿ˜‡ I did not want to go today as the day you do weights your actual muscles don't look the best as all the fluid is pushed to the surface of the skin and can look "pitted" as I am wearing a dress that shows off my arms I will feel more confident tonight wearing the dress. I have not trained properly for 6 years because of injuries and recovery from surgery and lifting weights again has given me that extra bit of oooph that I felt I have lost. Don't get me wrong, I have bad days but the more I train the better I feel. Women who exercise during menopause feel more empowered and in control. Don't believe me? I like to โ€œtestโ€ my body and make sure that what I am putting in it works well. ๐Ÿค” So just to see I came off these amazing #antiaging casuals @lumitylife about 2 months ago.  I have been on them for around 3 years.  After around 3 to 4 weeks my โ€œoldโ€ joint pain โ€“ related to my injuries, not menopausal, came back, those joints felt raw, plus my sleep wasnโ€™t great again, so I upped my stretching, which helped and had to do lots more meditation for better sleep.  So, decided to go back on @lumitylife as I felt I had lost a little bit of something.๐Ÿ˜Ÿ Remember my post yesterday?! I went to the breast clinic? I mean they have been painful recently. The Dr said are you taking any supplements such as evening primrose? No, I said, perhaps I should. Then said to my sister โ€œOMG Lumity!โ€ I stopped them, my sister looked at me, shook her head and just said โ€œif you had a brain you would be dangerous.โ€ I cannot wait for Lumity to fully kick in again, my sleep has improved and so has my old injury pain.๐Ÿ‹โ€โ™€๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‘„๐Ÿ’ช Visit www.menoandme.com for more info and contacts! I am keeping it simple and safe at the moment. Simple because it is too hot to cook and safe because that belly of mine has expanded over the last month! Well it was my 51st birthday and this weather isn't it the law to drink cold rose wine!? Well not this week,  complex carbs early on in the day, as we do need carbs ladies, but much lighter diners and NO vino for a week. Belly fat is harder to shift during menopause but it can be done. Plus drinking that extra glass or 2 of wine will increase your risk of breast cancer at our age. Women feel empowered if they exercise during menopause. If you are feeling totally broken, just start out with a ten-minute walk and you will start to feel better.  You can build up each week, how do I know this? 2 reasons, the obvious; I studied it for my job (which I love by the way) and secondly, I was completely broken when menopause hit me like a freight train, I was recovering from surgery and had a massive bucket load of stress to deal with, so was not in the best physical shape.  I had panic attacks, I didnโ€™t want to go out, I would cry lots and really thought I was going bonkers (shall I talk about my dry vagina?! Mmm perhaps not right now!) Each day I would move more, each week up my exercise intensity and time, I am not saying it was easy but small steps can make a big difference over time.  Now I am bonkers but in a good way ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜œ and feel great, ok some days not so much but that is life right?  Read the report, read my blogs, please start to move more! OMG I am such a ditz! ๐Ÿค“ The penny dropped when I was chatting to my sister last night.  I like to โ€œtestโ€ my body and make sure that what I am putting in it works well. ๐Ÿค” So just to see I came off these amazing #antiaging casuals @lumitylife about 2 months ago.  I have been on them for around 3 years.  After around 3 to 4 weeks my โ€œoldโ€ joint pain โ€“ related to my injuries, not menopausal, came back, those joints felt raw, plus my sleep wasnโ€™t great again, so I upped my stretching, which helped and had to do lots more meditation for better sleep.  So, decided to go back on @lumitylife as I felt I had lost a little bit of something.๐Ÿ˜Ÿ Remember my post yesterday?! I went to the breast clinic? I mean they have been painful recently. The Dr said are you taking any supplements such as evening primrose? No, I said, perhaps I should. Celebrating #NHS70  I know sometimes we moan about the #NHS but my goodness how amazing it has been these last 2 weeks. I found a lump, but I wasnโ€™t worried as my boobs have always been lumpy and can be painful but lately a bit more painful.  So, I have been looking at my diet and cut down my oestrogen just a tad. Of course, one must be a grown up (plus sister nagging) and went to my GP under 2 weeks ago.  Yesterday I went to the breast clinic, I had a full exam, mammogram and ultrasound. The Dr wasnโ€™t happy so sent me back in for a 2nd mammogram.  She said I had absolutely nothing to be worried about, just fatty tissue; great even our breasts are called fat during menopause! Anyway, I wasnโ€™t worried and will cut down on my coffee intake and monitor my oestrogen patches.  A good friend of mine had breast cancer, she is a nurse, she checked them for me last week and she said that pain is not related to breast cancer, she found hers by chance; staying at a friendโ€™s house who had great lighting in her bathroom and noticed a โ€œrippleโ€ not a lump, if she wasnโ€™t staying there who knows, she is clear now but it has been a tough road for her. Menoโ€™s please check your breasts today. BTW โ€“ yep that is my boob on the screen, the nurse just laughed at me when I took the photo, but you know me I really donโ€™t give a hoot what people think! #breastaware #breastcancer

This gorgeous young lady has the #BRCA gene, so she decided to have a double #mastectomy, which was hard enough, then after the birth of her last child had to have a #hysterectomy. It works for 70% of women who suffer with menopausal symptoms, if it works for you it will help with the usual symptoms plus dry vagina, low mood, sleeplessness and more; if you are at risk of blood clots and high blood pressure then the company and the Doctor I spoke to states that you are safe taking this product.  It helps with bone density as well.  The only thing it does not do which Hrt does; heart disease prevention, however that can be easily covered by exercise! Ha see you knew I had another motive! Did I mention exercise helps with menopause symptoms!? There are 3 categories of this product, peri-menopause up to 50 years old, menopause 50 + then post menopause 60 +. So, when you email me please put your age and what category you think you are in. Please add your full postal address so we know where to send the product.  Thereafter the product is very reasonably priced,  same as a high street multivitamin.  You will know within the month if you are In the  70% so no money wasted. #Mentalhealth is affected when our oestrogen levels start to decline #anxiety can hit hard, even when still having regular periods; this can start as early as early 40's. Confusion, self doubt, anxiety and those sleepless nights waking up in sheer panic that you have forgotten something, but can't think what, start to happen more frequently. Happy Monday Meno's! Well I am feeling my age today! Yesterday I turned 51, had a great day with family and friends so finding it rather hard today to motivate myself! However feeling thankful as its just the heat and post Birthday blues, for years I didn't want to celebrate anything because of my menopause symptoms. Don't get me wrong If I don't exercise tomorrow, eat healthy and meditate I will feel horrible by the end of the week. So, today just going to do the minimum  and reflect on my lovely day yesterday and feel blessed at everything that I have and who I have around me. #51andfabulous

Do you have painful hips, lower back and spine? I thought I was finished because of painful joints  which can start in #perimenopause late 30's early 40's. This simple stretch helps me loads, especially on a Friday after a long week, in this heat. If you let you head and arms really hang it is great traction for your mid spine. You don't need to go to yoga to feel the benefit of stretching.

I love this photo thank you @blnk_kanvas  I think this sums up most #menopausalwomen in this heat! Hot and deflated!  Fear not my lovely Menoโ€™s we at MENO&ME are trying out lots of cooling products @chillipad to make sure that our journey through summer and menopause is as cool as possible. Did anyone see Dr Hilary this morning on @itvlorraine ? He had some great tips, one was to fill up a hot water bottle with cold water and put in the freezer, another was to put your sheets in the freezer before bed, unfortunately I live in a shoe box of a flat and my freezer isnโ€™t big enough for my sheets to go in! But a great tip! Did you know Peri menopause can start late 30's early 40's? ..subtle changes that go unnoticed... I wish I knew then what I know now.. Would have gone on hrt years ago! Who would like to join me for a walk  on Saturday and to raise money for this amazing charity? I am not asking for sponsors, you just pay to join in just under ยฃ20.00 A good few years ago Greg and I went to Machu Picchu with Brooke, family and others, this is the first chance I have had to take part in an event since. It is such a heart-breaking story; this year is 10 years since the Kinsella family lost dear Ben. Brooke and her family have worked so hard to bring awareness of  how dreadful knife crime is and the affects it has on the individuals and family. They have built a hard hitting exhibition that moves around the country where schools can come to visit, to educate youngsters on the dangers of knife crime and gangs. The charity is amazing and has done great work, but like any charity needs to be supported. I will upload the link to event onto my MENO&ME Facebook page, message me or go onto the website. I am taking my own advice and listening to my body and the universe.  I slept for 11 hours last night.. Sorry!! First time in.. I can't remember when.  I missed my spin class because I did not wake up until 11.30am which is when it started! I am enjoying Sunday and just chilling out and going with the flow.  Happy Sunday all.

This week I have been reflecting on my menopause journey, which I am still on.  Looking back when it first hit me, I really did not know what was happening. I wanted to curl up in a ball and stay there, I hardly went out; I avoided social situations like the plague. Being somewhere like this on a Saturday would trigger my anxiety to sky high levels which would of course trigger my hot flushes, which would run into the later part of the day therefore affecting my sleep, I was just one big ball of craziness! Recently I asked you lovely insta sistas โ€œif exercise has helped your menopause symptoms then please let us know.โ€ I know it has helped mine, when menopause hit me I was not in the best physical shape, even doing what I do for my job. But, I knew, if I took it slowly I would build myself up again. Small steps over a long time have added up to me being able to stand here today.  I have added some of our comments on a new page on the site, do have a look. Each woman has a  different menopause experience; 30 % of women do not suffer symptoms.  However, exercise will not only help your mood, memory, focus, energy and sleep it will also help prevent heart disease and osteoporosis, which we are at higher risk of because of the decrease in oestrogen.โ €

I was invited into a conversation on twitter last week so have written a #blog for you on#pelvicfloorfunction "are wide leg squats beneficial or contraindicated for pelvic floor function?" During menopause this area can be an issue. Leaking when sneezing, coughing or even laughing can be horrible or even getting up after you have been for a wee and think you have finished and ...o dear! If exercise has had a positive affect on your #menopausesymptoms let us know"  this lovely lady said weight training and swimming has really helped and it keeps her madness at bay! Her weight training keeps her physically and mentally in check too.  She thanked me for my honesty and humour in my Insta stories... โ˜โ˜โ˜ circles above. If you followed me on my #instastories on Sunday โ˜โ˜ They are the circles above; tap on my face above and my story stays up there for 24 hours. I went from looking like I was covered in mud after using #fakebake which highlighted my moustache then had a real hair disaster, I realised I have not used my @olaplex for a few weeks and I was going #outout which I really did not want to do on a Sunday night โ€“ Pjโ€™s and handmaids tale please! So called up my bestie and hairdresser @mathewgeorgehairdressing and asked his advice, as my hair looked like a mess of cotton wool and this was his advice! It was so much better but will be putting in my treatment today.  Thank you Mathew George, however if you were a real bestie then you would have been in London to come round and blow dry my hair and sprinkle your magic on it! #sorrynotsorryโ €

Just before going #outout on Sunday night. I know - a school night! If you have a look at my video with me in curlers, then this photo will make sense - or - if you follow me on insta stories โ˜โ˜ you will know what I am talking about! Insta stories you say? You tap on my face and can see what I am up to, if you can be bothered - I don't blame you if you don't!  You will know what I am talking about, about an hour before this photo I had washed and blow dried my hair but it was looking like a bit of cotton wool, so @mathewgeorgehairdressing advice was to put in my rollers and spray with hairspray and leave as long as possible then slowly - not drag them out like I usually do - unroll them and away you go. I shall be using my #olaplex treatment on a weekly basis as we have enough to deal with being #menopausal without worrying about our hair! BTW I do offer exercise advice on my insta stories and you can see how often and what I do. This was a true exception - as going out on a Sunday night was for a "work thing" with Greg, I really earnt myself some wife brownie points there, especially as we didn't get in until 4am!!! I know, I have not got home the same time as the birds waking  for at least 10 years! I only had 3 drinks all night, lots of water, which is why today I only did a light 20 minutes on the bike with lots of stretching. Beat those #bingowings This is the first time in around 6/7 years that I am training "specifically"  as for the last few years I have #exercised for health benefits. Now, I feel that I am a place that I have a specific goal;  getting back my# guns! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜ Moving for health both mentally and physically are very important and I will still be nagging you of this on a weekly basis! But I wanted to share with you my arm journey, my 2nd shoulder operation was last  September and  I have been soooo good with my rehab, now It is time to notch it up! Everyone has to start somewhere, so if you have never done any arm exercises before then scroll down my insta page for simple arm exercises to start off with or look at my site ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ‘† on the exercise page. Remember always do a warm up set with a much lighter weight or some type of warm cardio warm up including shoulder rolls and of course stretch afterwards! I am doing 6 sets of 5 because that is optimum for cutting those muscles! PS sorry for bad quality of video and hair, remembered I promised on my live feed on Wednesday that I would be doing this for today and it was a little rushed, but you get the idea...any questions just shout! ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคธโ€โ™€๐Ÿ’•โ €

Ok,  this might look odd to you, but this is me on holiday trying to do my "specific" programme  to get my ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช guns back and wanting to keep on track with my prescriptive exercise routine;  On our holiday  not a "state of the art gym" I would say it was "functional".. however it may have stressed Greg out a bit, but I like to "think outside of the box", because of my shoulder rehab I need to be careful with what I do, so therefore being prescriptive in my programme to make sure I achieve my goals.  I was disappointed  that there was not a  #declinebench so instead I put 2 # bosubalancetrainer on top of each other and performed all of the exercises that I needed to; as my hips for 3 exercises need to be below my shoulders..... By the end of the week I loved my new adapted routine! However  Greg was not  as happy because he is 6ft 6 and  could only use a few of the CV equipment as his head kept hitting the ceiling!  #weightliftingโ €

Being #menopausal it will also help with bone health.
