I absolutely love this quote. I need to pin it up on my wall. It's so hard to remember sometimes. Especially when the house is a mess, your kid is screaming, dinner is burning, and you're running on 3 hours of sleep.
But, as the adults (sometimes it's hard to think of myself as an adult ) it's our job to help our little ones regulate their emotions.
Here are some ideas to help you out:
️ Never underestimate the power of a few deep breaths. In and out, momma.
️ Get on their level, look them in their eyes.
️ Stop what you're doing and try a "time in", rather than time out. Really give them your full attention and help them sort out their emotions.
️ If you're too upset to do those things, make sure your kid is safe and go to your bedroom or bathroom for a minute. It's okay to collect yourself before responding.
️ Sometimes, a great way to reset a bad day is just to get out of the house. Visit a park, museum, nature park, even the store! •
