Training glutes isn't just for the women! There are key muscle groups that give the physique an overall larger look. There include the neck, the traps, the shoulders, the back, and the glutes. Growing these specific muscle groups make your frame appear larger without actually having to have ginormous muscles all together. This allows your physique to flow much more. With the glutes, my favorite exercise has to be hip thrusts due to its large array of different parts of the glutes that it targets. It's a great overload exercise as well meaning you can keep increasing in weight when it gets too light. Creates a great pump!

Kind of sad to admit that my legs took the back seat in terms of attention this off season, in terms of quads and hamstrings that is. Took a lot of time developing my arms and upper chest, with which I have been successful. -
On the other hand there was about a two month period where I trained calves every day, and although I’ve made some progress I’ve switched back to every other day. Still such a long way to go for them and sadly I’ve done a great job bringing up my arms, probably a bit too quickly to be proportional. I’ll need to step up my calf even further, perhaps go back to raining them everyday, what do you guys think??

I’ve received an overwhelming response to my post about Upper/Lower training. Mainly from guys (and gals) who are interested in running the program, but need more details.

So what I’ve done is created 2 graphics – one will layout the upper-body workouts (this one is up on the page) and the other will provide the lower-body portion of the workout (this one).

I think that I’ve got the hang of this lean gaining thing! No real fluctuation in terms of body weight, if anything weight was down a touch mid week at around 77kg but has increased to 78.5kg again. Calories have been around 3400 on average but my daily step count has increased and so has strength (hit an all time PB on db shoulder press of 40kg/88lbs for 10 reps) which would mean my weight would be a little down. As long as my strength is moving in the right direction I’m not going to worry to much about the scale. For me, I have an idea of how I want to look, which is much more to do with my overall package, call it aesthetic whatever, but this look certainly doesn’t involve a desired scale weight. You only have to look at some of the most Eye catching physiques from past generations, to realise that the scale isn’t everything. Anyways enough of my rambling πŸ˜‚What a lot of you must remember when looking at the scales is that there are a whole host of things going on that may dictate what the scale says, hydration levels, sleep, stress, hormone balance can all play havoc with what the scales say so don’t always take your scale weight for the truth, look at it over a weekly even monthly average and you will have a much better idea πŸ’‘πŸ˜‰

Strongman events @bridgerdbarbell with @b.i.g.c.o.l @samrich21 @john_sines really positive session can't remember my last events session so happy with today alot of work to do shoulder not fully recovered but I did get some 90kg axle work on with almost no pain so I'm happy hopefully this continues! Great post by @pheasyque. Did you know that a wider grip on pull-ups and pull downs actually works less of your lats than going narrower? Using a narrower grip will increase your range of motion, engage your lats more, and allow you to use more weight. All of these will yield better growth. Personally, the widest I ever go on pull-ups is how I did them today (check out my current story to see my grip as well as my entire workout πŸ’ͺ🏼) and if I do pull downs, I use the narrow V attachment instead of the more standard wide grip attachment.
