2018 Emmet County Fair is over. 150 years of fair for this county. 10 of those years our family has participated. In those short years many things have changed.
With that said, several things remain the same. Every year, the kids love their animals.🐖🐂🐐 Even if we wondered that they would be calm enough to show. It's always a fun day taking in all the things needed to show cattle, pigs, goats. In the past we have also had rabbit & chicken projects. Weighing in to see how much they have gained. Seeing fair friends from other towns that are only seen during fair week. Friday morning early swine show. Saturday stress of getting all the steers ready on time. Lord knows those beasts will for sure try to lay down. And most definitely will greasy poo right before going in the arena. Evenings of concerts, a tractor pull, or hanging out by trailers just relaxing with friends.
While the kids probably have many more to add, one other thing is for sure. By Sunday evening, we are tired. The energy is gone. And we can safely say it's in the books for another year.
With 10 years invested, we only have 5 more possible for our family. Then it will be going to watch nieces, nephews and cousins. It's sort of bittersweet to think about. Yet on the flipside, we will be able to take a vacation anytime during the summer. Unlike now, only after fair during the first two weeks of August right before school starts.
