😅Alright, let’s first start off this post with one thing. I’ve been getting a lot of questions from people that have heard that “fruit is bad for you”. If anyone ever says fruit is bad for you, they deserve one thing. It’s a smack in the head. With a chair. Seriously.🙄

La carne contiene aproximadamente 19 por ciento de proteína de excelente calidad y hierro que es muy bien absorbido. La cantidad de grasa depende del animal del que viene la carne y del tipo de corte. El valor energético de la carne aumenta con el contenido de grasa. Proporciona cantidades útiles de riboflavina y niacina, un poco de tiamina, zinc y vitaminas A y C.

Por otro lado, el huevo es uno de los pocos alimentos que no contiene carbohidratos. Cada huevo es rico en grasa, contiene una proporción considerable de excelente proteína, y buenas cantidades de calcio, hierro, vitaminas A y D, además de tiamina y riboflavina. 
Aún el huevo encierra tantos mitos para muchas personas... pero si estas cauteloso en su consumo ingiere tres claras y una yema al dia, si quieres aprovechar su valor proteico en un plato de comida.

Following on from the last post about sources of protein, I thought I’d try something different myself. Whilst doing the weekly food shop I saw a packet of 5% fat pork mince. I inspected the macros and could see it was very similar to 5% fat beef mince. I took a second to think what could I make with this. I decided meatballs could be a good change. *
So I made my own sauce using tinned chopped tomatoes and some seasoning. Shaped the mince into meatballs, browned off in a frying pan and then cooked through in the oven. *
To add to the protein intake I added Explore Asian Black Bean Spaghetti to normal spaghetti, which also packs a good amount of fibre!!

Je vous livre aujourd’hui une petite règle basique pour mieux manger et c’est aussi valable pour perdre du poids. Dans une journée manger au moins un plat constitué principalement de haricots (haricots blancs, rouges, voandzou, cassoulet, lentilles,...) ou un plat constitué essentiellement de légumes verts. Idéalement les deux par jour, sisi PAR JOUR!

Levez la main 🤚🏽 si vous comptez essayer  de le faire!

Alright, I’ve posted about pre-workout nutrition and the importance of it a few days ago so I won’t touch on those topics extensively again. Here’s what you want to be eating pre-workout.

IF gives you a schedule when you can eat during the day. Some people take this to an extreme and eat only once per day over a two hour window. Personally, I eat for 11 hours and fast for 13 hours.

For you bodybuilders, when you fast (3-4 hours after your last meal), your body first uses carbs, second fats, third proteins as energy.

The kettlebell swing is one of my go-to exercises for all PT clients beginner to advanced. It is simpler to teach than Olympic barbell movements and it provides overlapping benefits (strength, speed, and explosiveness). It also fits the middle ground of building strength and burning fat. By adjusting the weight

One of the most underrated features is how it builds the glutes. Strong glutes have aesthetic properties, but also protect the low back from injury. By doing a proper kettlebell swing, we reduce the chance of low back injuries.

There are key points to remember in the kettlebell swing:

MY 3 BIGGEST TIPS FOR A GOOD SWING *
ℹHinge, don’t squat: The swing is a simple exercise that is done wrong in so many popular media sources. It is not a squat movement, but a hip-hinge movement. That means that the hips go back (hinge), and the knees only bend slightly (they bend fully in a squat). Think about this position as a jump. If you try to jump forward as far as possible, the bottom position is the same position that you use at the bottom of the kettlebell swing.

ℹBe explosive with the hips, not the arms: The swing is a ballistic movement. If you think of a bullet fired out of a gun, it receives all of its power initially and then relies on momentum to get to its destination. The same goes for the swing. The hips provide the explosive power throwing the kettlebell up in the air and the arms are there just for the ride. Do not worry about how high the kettlebell goes. Your goal is to let it float up once the hips have used up their power.

ℹProtect the back: Do not let the kettlebell pull the lower back into a bad position at the bottom of the swing. Pull your shoulders back and down to engage your lats. I like to approach the kettlebell like a gorilla with my arms out. By keeping my upper back tight, I provide more protection to my lower back.

One of my absolute favorite meals filled with healthy fats carbs and protein! 
Salmon: this one was bought from @woolworths_sa , but I usually marinate my own in some honey, soy sauce, coriander, garlic, sesame oil and spring onion. 
Hummus: I make my own simple hummus with chickpeas, tahini, garlic, olive oil, lemon and zataar 
Maple roasted butternut: probably my favorite side dish, made with roasting butternut segments in olive oil, chili flakes and a splash of 100% pure maple syrup.
Sweet potato fries: made in my air fryer and spiced with Himalayan rock salt and celery
Steamed greens: I like to steam my greens, then drizzle olive oil and lemon on-top with some salt and pepper.

👉🏼 Now with all that said, when I’m referring to the “best” foods for fat loss I simply mean this: foods that are relatively more likely to support your fat loss goals and help you hit your calorie and macronutrient targets for the day compared to other foods that might not support those targets (aka, foods that are high-calorie, calorie-dense, etc).

🔥 So the takeaway I want you to get is this: ultimately, the “best” foods are the one’s that you enjoy and support your goals. However, there are some foods that are probably “best” in terms of how easy they are to make fit into your nutrition for the day.

😃 Ultimately, eat 80% healthy stuff, and fit in fun foods you enjoy with the other 20%. And always play the long game! Patience is a major key!

Sushi bowl anyone?? Such an easy meal that just takes cooking rice and chopping some veg! 
Shredded carrots, cucumber, smoked salmon, seaweed, picked ginger and a bed of wild rice served cold

And remember I know we all love our white rice but since it is the polished version of brown rice it is stripped of the shell and germ (where ALL the nutrients are) therefore, white rice has ZERO nutritional value AND spikes our blood sugar levels just as much as eating white table sugar 🙊 so try to make that health sub for wild or brown rice!!

Hehe who says it's a bad thing? 😉 I love starting my day with a hearty bowl of oats, topped with aaaaalll the goodies. ❤👌 Can't be more than just a few cals, yeah? Toppings don't count.... right?🤔😘 😐Welp. Well I took the time to actually calculate how many cals my normal oatmeal bowl is and sometimes... it legit gets up to 700 calories!! Which maybe after a super hard fasted leg workout is a GOOD amount of food to REFUEL. Buuuut... maybe not so good for a rest day morning? 🍹Here you go! High cals on the left and low cals on the right. As you can probably guess, a typical night of drinking can really make you rack up the calories (especially if you get the munchies afterwards).

🍹What you drink can drastically affect the damage done though. A Long Island Ice Tea can basically be a meal (depending how it’s prepared) while a vodka soda isn’t so bad (assuming you don’t drink 30)- Light beers have low cals but lower alcohol content, which means you may drink more if them so keep that in mind 😋
.
🍹It’s important to have fun and enjoy life and for many people, drinking is a part of that. That’s A-ok. Doesn’t mean that you have to get drunk AND gain weight though 😜. Moderation is the key factor!
