Last photo set and some of my favorites from the DACA story!
After going to Hickory, North Carolina, several times, eating the Martinez' family Ceviche, going to their daughter Lina's Quinceañera, and really learning first hand how the Dreamers are some of the hardest working people in the country, I am super proud that I was able to illustrate one of the 800,000 dynamic stories of the Dreamers of this country--Couldn't be a more important time to be telling them.
This story looks at the determined young woman, Lena Martinez, her family, her experience as a Dreamer, DACA’s relationship to a changing Appalachia.
North Carolina is one of the 6 states in the US with the fastest growing hispanic population, which is why programs like DACA are crucial for them to reach their full potential in this country, and why the removal of this program will be detrimental not only for the Dreamers, but for us all.
Thank you to 100 Days in Appalachia and Timothy Pratt for collaborating on this!!! Link in bio ️ - 4 hours ago
