QOTD: do you take public transport? Next question: do you read on public transport?
I do *sometimes*, I’d like to say I always make time for reading but then I’d be lying. Public transport creates quite the dilemma for me, my inner writer and reader spar over use of the time. You see, on one hand: wow look at all this time I’ve got to read! I can finish my books today! BUT, on the other hand: have you seen the stories that unfold around you in public spaces? Trains in particular offer this unique crossing of paths with quite a specific set of interactions. People meet in places and they might never encounter the same people again - flighty conversations are had and emotional goodbyes - it’s far too interesting to block out. I suppose it’s my day-to-day version of the arrivals gate at Heathrow airport (on this occasion I’m referencing ‘Love Actually’ ️) I’m far too fond of people watching...
What do you reckon? Am I mad for passing up reading time? -
