Day 5 is one of my all-time faves! #kingpigeonpose 👑🐦 I haven’t been flipping my grip lately. Something in my daily life has caused one of my shoulders to feel off (likely carrying my work equipment), so today was a pleasant surprise. They will still do this for me; the smile is real. I get such a rush from backbending/heartopening normally but right now it’s left me a bit vulnerable. This is a difficult week for me emotionally. Hormones + my final week for my dog job. Soooo many goodbyes 🐶 but better days are coming. .

It’s been a while since I posted! I’ve been practicing just not feeling the need to interrupt it to take photos. ▪️ensure your front leg is parallel to the mat and the knee is pushing towards the pinky toe
▪️ground all four corners of the back foot into the mat, actively pushing the weight into it, externally rotate the back thigh, knee active ▪️turning the hips to the face forward, lift the arms above the head ▪️start to lift the chest towards the sky, pushing the ribs forwards and leaning back, no pressure in the lower back ▪️Have fun! Day3 of #LearnToLoveYogis is #cowfacepose using my small golden  @mamakuka strap to match my sunflower🌻can't wait to start harvesting them, a couple will be ready soon🌻🌻so yeah cow face🐮 another stretch I often do to stretch my impaired shoulders there is def something going on w/ my rotators✨ my 2nd swipe shows both sides & so does the 3rd swipe, the 3rd swipe are the 1st pics I took, I knew I was struggling so hence the strap, some days are easier than others, proper alignment feels so much better doing this tho😘😘😘 #learntolove .

The moment I decided to start living my truth, making the decision to no longer hide, my body also decided to be brave and find space. .
It really is that simple: the body is a reflection of the mind/spirit. When I wasn’t living authentically or sharing my experience with others, my body would be tense and tight on the mat. There was no growth.
I finally opened up about my journey with no reservation, and my physical practice began to sprout. Then when I decided to be 100% committed to my healing journey, petals started emerging. Now that I am walking the walk and speaking without fear, there is only space-no more barriers....physical or mental.
When you break free of the invisible walls that separate you from others’, you realize that the walls were self-constructed, and that we are in fact all connected. Speak your truth and live it compassionately with an open heart; start to notice how your body responds.

DAY 1 of #MidSummerStretch And we have PUPPY POSE 🐶 an amazing shoulder/ chest opener which I genuinely never go a day with out! - I never knew there were SO many variations of this pose until I was searching for some inspiration and came across so many different ideas for beginners and some deeper variations☝🏼 .
I LOVED this variation which I had never tried before 😍 - swipe right to see a more traditional puppy pose which is suitable for beginners & those of us who just want a softer opener sometimes! (This is the variation I do daily!) - place the forehead on the mat or a block to begin with. Then after a while you can begin to take the chin down, and then to deepen the stretch even more, you may come up onto the fingertips. ☝🏼

Tomorrow is Day 5 of the #AuguStands Challenge. After lots of opening, stretching and strength building we are moving into Forearm stand. Tomorrow’s pose is Pincha STRAIGHT UP. Don’t forget all the tips and variations that were offered earlier on.

So let’s unpack this pincha. Forearm stand with straight legs, in my opinion is one of the hardest to master. Once you are up in the pose, remember to press the forearms down into the ground and draw your front ribs in to the centerline. Ignite energy in the legs by internally rotating your inner thighs and lengthening out through your feet and tips of your toes. Squeeze like you’re

I guess I could get all caught up in comparing myself and feeling super shitty about where I am in my journey CLEARLY NOT WHERE SHE IS WHO ELSE HATES HER 👋 but I won’t go there because I’ve come a long way in 2.5 years of yoga and I have to remind myself that @eileendelatorre has been practicing a lot longer than me SO as you begin yoga you may feel envious and frustrated and those are normal human emotions but remember there is no timeline for this journey and with dedicated practice maybe one day we will all resemble a division sign AND Y’ALL I am seriously loving how her hair bun looks like testicles.

Since I’ve posted a poll between hip and shoulder openers, the votes were close and I really appreciate everyone who voted. So here’s a shoulder and chest opener sequence for everyone.
I tried compiling some beginner poses to incorporate in your practice.

Hold every pose for 20 counts or 5 long breaths..
🚫 If you have any spinal or shoulder injury, please do consult someone before doing any of the poses. 
Also, if you suffer from neck problems, please do not look sideways in any pose that requires you to have your neck other than in a neutral pose.
Remember any asana should be stable and comfortable.
✨ With every inhalation and exhalation, try going deeper within the pose. 
So the poses in the video are as follows in order:-
• Cat & Cow: Push away the floor and protract your shoulder blades while exhaling and inhale looking up. Shoulders over wrists and hips over knees.
• Dolphin: you can bend your knees to keep a flat back. Shoulder width apart and away from the ears. Upper arms parallel. Keep rocking back and forth to work on shoulder mobility. To open shoulders more, press palms together.
• Cobra: Roll shoulders away from your ears. Play with placement of your palms depending on flexibility and to deepen the stretch more. Knees and toes touching the floor. • Sphinx: Arms shoulder width apart, palms on floor and pull back on the mat to open your chest more.
• Use both blocks (you can use your bed) to place both elbows to open these tight shoulders.
• Puppy pose or Uttana Shishosana: One of my favorite poses. To get into this pose, start on all fours like in a cat and cow, move your buttocks backward towards your heels and your arms active. Rest your head and neck and eventually chest rests on the mat. • Half bow pose: Here I am only opening the chest so no need to go into a full bow. Flex your feet, hold your shins and pull back.
• Two angle pose: fists together behind back, as much as possible palms are completely touching. Exhale fold down, let your palms hang and let gravity do its work

With the help of my @infinitystrap strap I can see my flip grin in #dancerspose is closer then I realized. I will have to practice this more often. Clearly I need more shoulder openers. .

Post hike play 😊 Exploring trails closer to home today. My favorite hiking trail is about 40 minutes from my house. It has a lovely little creek winding around it and great hills. I go almost every weekend. I didn’t feel like driving so far today, so I went to one about 10 minutes away. It has a pretty good 2.5 mile trail. The reason I don’t favor it is because most of the trees are really young making a small and low canopy with a lot of brush and there isn’t any creeks in sight. The best trails have water! 😉
