I know I don’t look like those thicc👅insta fitness baddies squatting & it took me a little while to post this, but I’m working on getting stronger every day & am proud of where I’m at today. 🏋🏻‍♀️
When I stared lifting I had the most trouble getting used to deadlifts & back squats, so here’s my.. 🔻Squats 101:
〰️I’ve read conflicting info about what to do with your feet, but from what I’ve read & heard, the best form involves  feet mostly parallel with only angled out only EVER so slightly 👟👟
〰️Squeeze your glutes as you come up... you should have a granny butt at the top 🤷🏽‍♀️
〰️Flat back!! 〰️weight into heels and pretend your tearing floor apart!👺
〰️work up to the weight you’re doing, warm ups are crucial! I start with a set of just the bar, then add 25, then increase by 10 lbs ⏫
Lately I’ve been throwing in two sets of 10 front squats at the end, just to really let the burn sink in🤪

I know I don’t look like those thiccinsta fitness baddies squatting & it took me a little while to post this, but I’m working on getting stronger every day & am proud of where I’m at today. 🏋🏻‍♀️ When I stared lifting I had the most trouble getting used to deadlifts & back squats, so here’s my.. Squats 101: ️I’ve read conflicting info about what to do with your feet, but from what I’ve read & heard, the best form involves feet mostly parallel with only angled out only EVER so slightly ️Squeeze your glutes as you come up... you should have a granny butt at the top 🤷🏽‍♀️ ️Flat back!! ️weight into heels and pretend your tearing floor apart! ️work up to the weight you’re doing, warm ups are crucial! ▪️This graph shows a simple representation of how much relative hip and knee dominance we use with common hinge and squat patterns. When considering an athlete or individual with low back, hip, or knee pain, we can potentially continue to train these patterns while reducing overall stress to a particular area.

🔹Example 1: an individual experiencing knee pain with front squats could use high or low bar squats as an alternative. By moving the weight onto the back, we ultimately change the demands of the knee, thus potentially allowing someone to continue training the squat pattern without discomfort.

🔹Example 2: an individual with hip pain or pinching during conventional deadlift, may prefer the sumo deadlift position. The sumo position can be more comfortable for some (variation among individuals) due to change in hip demands.

🔹Example 3: As we move from left to right, the relative angle of the torso will go from more horizontal to more vertical. A more horizontal angle will require a higher demand of low back musculature. Therefore, an individual with low back discomfort may find sumo deadlifts more tolerable than RDLs, or a front squat more tolerable then a low bar back squat.

DON'T squat like this! Hips rising early in a squat defeats the purpose of squatting and eliminates or minimizes many of the benefits of doing squats. Namely, glute development, hip health, and strengthening your core.

Not only does this make you able to move less weight, but it also puts more stress on the low back and less on the glutes. It additionally opens up a whole other can of worms regarding bar roll, core bracing, and shoulder tightness.

If you are having trouble mastering the squat, try this. Simplify, don't complicate. Place a chair, block, or box behind you and do box squats onto this surface until you get your depth / hip position down. Record yourself while you squat, and make sure you're moving  properly and / or consult someone who knows what they're doing. Or give me a call / email.

While nobody is claiming you climb up and plant your feet on a regular toilet seat, there is some evidence to suggest squatting makes it easier to empty your bowels.

The process of passing bowel motions or defecation, is a lot more complicated than you might imagine, and researchers found the anorectal angle had greater widening in the squatting position. Participants also had less abdominal straining while squatting.
So, wanna improve your poop technique? Give a squat a try.

ME bench from last night. 2” press w/chains (44kilo altogether). Hit 80kilo bar weight with less chains last time I did this variation. Day 4 in a row for training due to Friday night commitments meant energy levels were that of a snail, but still managed the tiniest of PBs 
62.5kilo + chains X 3 
72.5kilo + chains X 1
77.5kilo + chains X 1
82.5kilo + chains X 1
