As someone wise once remarked, "Cake Rules Everything Around Me" (pretty sure that's an exact quote, right?).
Okay. Not EVERYTHING, but recipes like this one (coming someday in the SL cookbook!) are on the top of my mind lately--starting the process of getting a cookbook written, shot, marketed & sold is pretty much dominating my world right now. I've had some big, wild dreams in the last decade or so, and I've even made a few of them come true (oh hi there two cross-country moves, finding the love of my life, and starting a family!), but in terms of my career goals things have always been a little harder to define. Even on my best day, the details of my five-year plan looked a little fuzzy to me before 2018. One goal that has always been at the top of all my lists, though--create a cookbook! I'm honestly probably more afraid of this process than I was of the process of childbirth (and this project will probably take longer, haha), but I'm shaking off my fears and getting excited to dig in and do the work. Coming in 2019, a volume of 100+ brand-new, original recipes that I'm hoping will inspire you to invite your friends & family to the table and make you kitchen your new favorite restaurant! Take this vanilla pound cake with lime-basil curd, for example, which right now is inspiring me to get back in the kitchen and make yet another vanilla pound cake with lime-basil curd. Because CAAAAAKE.
