Scary mom moment in our household. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don't share these moments so that you can judge me or judge my mothering ways, I share them to make other new moms/already moms aware of how careful one should be when taking advice from other moms. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I put Castin in his crib with a blanket for his nap and hopped in the shower (Note: I only put a blanket in there if I'm going to be watching him EVERY SECOND and only during nap time, never at night). I had the monitor sitting on the counter so that I could watch him through the shower. Towards the end of my shower (they're not very long these days), something in my head said "get out of the shower NOW!" This wasn't a "la di da okay done with my shower.... ooo can't wait to put my lotion on and my robe and do my own thing for an hour." This was a "Courtney, get out of the shower right this second." So with this panic rising in my chest for no reason, I jumped out of the shower (no towel) and looked at the monitor. All I see are Castin's legs flailing but the monitor was angled weirdly so I couldn't see his head. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I rushed into his room only to find his head wrapped like a burrito and him screaming the loudest I'd ever heard but it was so muffled because he was so deeply rolled into the blanket. I'm screaming at the same time that I'm unrolling him and when I get him out of the blanket, I hold him for 5 minutes while he's gasping for air.
Guys, God is real and if you don't believe, there are signs that he gives all of us every single day to show us that he is THERE! He is watching and if I would have stayed in the shower to even shave my legs, my son could be dead. I am not curled up in his room while he sleeps because I can't leave his side. These moments make us feel like HORRIBLE parents, but there is someone watching out for you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
