1. Begin by spray-painting the picnic table with primer. This is especially useful if your picnic table is a darker shade of wood like ours was – if your table is already light coloured, the primer may not be necessary. In this case though, the primer really helped get a nice base coat on all the pieces so that we wouldn’t have to apply as many coats of the lighter colors later. Paint all sides and let dry.
2. Once the primer is dry, decide what colour you’d like for each piece of the picnic table. This kids picnic table was from IKEA so was already disassembled for easy painting. If your table is pre-assembled, you can mask off areas you don’t want covered, disassemble it, or just paint the table one colour instead of colour blocking. Whatever you decide, apply the paint onto the primed picnic table on all sides to get full coverage. Let dry completely and assemble the table. - 5 hours ago
